Enjoying a seafront location in Kato Zakros Beach, Coral offers a restaurant and free bikes. It features air-conditioned accommodations with Mediterranean Sea and mountain views. A fantastic little spot, with small but perfectly adequate and charming rooms overlooking the Mediterranean, the sound of waves washing against the pebble beach will lull you to sleep at night. And getting there is half the fun, an adventurous journey over twisting roads coming across the eastern mountain range, until you round the hill and see down below this isolated little cluster of tavernas with a perfect beach (and an archeological dig right next door). The owner (Nikos) and chef (Georgios) are top notch, warm, and friendly in the way Greeks know best.
Located in Zakros Village, Dimitra Apartments features self-catering accommodations with free WiFi. It offers free bikes to explore the natural surroundings, while the village center is 2625 feet... Very nice host and also the owner of a taverna at the end of the dead’s gorge. Hiking highly recommended and afterwards refresh yourself in the sea, wash off the dust and enjoy fresh fish at the taverna.
The family-run Katerina Apartments is perched on a green hill in Kato Zakros of Crete, within 1640 feet froom the beach. The first time we visited Katerina Apartments it exceeded our expectations and we were not disappointed this time either. We wanted a quiet break in charming conditions and that is exactly what we got. Food in the Akrogiali taverna was excellent and the staff efficient and friendly.
Athena Rooms features a privileged location just 33 feet from the beach of Zakros and 656 feet from the Minoan Palace of Kato Zakros. Perfect location. Quiet retreat with great friendly hosts. Me and my family stayed only for a day but we will definitely come and stay for a week!!!
Set in Káto Zákros, 27 mi from Sitia, Alkioni Sea View offers a restaurant and free WiFi. Lovely quiet location up hill overlooking the bay & sun rise each morning( 15 mins walk to the tavernas was no problem ). Outdoor area was great for self-dining & breakfasts ( and Not a wasp in sight! ) Nikos was a very attentive host and always available at his taverna on the way down to the seafront.

Athena Rooms features a privileged location just 33 feet from the beach of Zakros and 656 feet from the Minoan Palace of Kato Zakros. Perfect location. Quiet retreat with great friendly hosts.
Relaxing seaside fishing village famous for the ruins of the Minoan Palace. There is 4-5 tavernas right next to the beach. At the west side of the village there is a hiking path to take you to Pelekita Cave. There is also a path to link with 'Dead's Gorge.' A great location to explore Sitia Geopark.
Kato Zakros seems like a village that has travelled to the distant past. Time goes much slower there. Nature is all around you. The people are kind and interested in you. It is not a "chic," "fancy" place at all, thank goodness. It is down-to-earth, real, and beautiful. The Minoan archaeological site right there is fantastic.
There are a couple of nice walks you can do in the morning and then have a lovely swim in the afternoon. There is sunbeds and umbrellas free for the clients of the restaurants. The archeological site is nice as well. We thought the taverna prices on the high side for the quality you generally get. We thought Nostos Taverna relatively good, but difficult to judge because of Covid19, most tavernas did not have a lot of food yet; and we could not try them all out.
It is a very peaceful place. No shops just sea front tavernas. As well as the beach and sea there is a gorge for the more energetic to walk, and the Minoan palace for people wanting culture. Everything is within walking distance and it is possible to spend a few relaxing days without ever leaving the resort
This is a quiet, unspoilt part of Crete, a little remote but with great walking in the area and a key archaeological site on the spot. Swimming is lovely from the beach-side tavernas. Most facilities probably close down in mid-October
it is a small calm and relaxing village. no shops or markets, just few taverns. if you need food you should go to Zakros a bigger close village). pebbly beaches, in the center slightly sandy. right part of the bay with big pebbles and boulders. left art is applicable for nudes. possible activity - swimming and hiking (many passes of various difficulty and length -upto whole day)
Everything was fine. A really lovely place.
