Set in a fragrant garden, Yiannis Retreat is a traditional complex of stone houses in the lush valley of Kato Zakros in Crete. It is a very secluded place, very quiet, cozy, with an increible garden and really nice views. We also liked that the staff is very helpful and Friendly. We met Maria and Yiannis wife.
Built on a hill in Kato Zakros Village, Kato Zakros Palace Apartments offers units with panoramic views over the Minoan Palace, the sea and the Valley of the Dead. The view is very nice, you see the archeological site and the sea. The area if full of nice places to visit.
Athena Rooms features a privileged location just 33 feet from the beach of Zakros and 656 feet from the Minoan Palace of Kato Zakros. Perfect location. Quiet retreat with great friendly hosts. Me and my family stayed only for a day but we will definitely come and stay for a week!!!
Enjoying a seafront location in Kato Zakros Beach, Coral offers a restaurant and free bikes. It features air-conditioned accommodations with Mediterranean Sea and mountain views. Lovely location right on the beach. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly.
The family-run Katerina Apartments is perched on a green hill in Kato Zakros of Crete, within 1640 feet froom the beach. The first time we visited Katerina Apartments it exceeded our expectations and we were not disappointed this time either. We wanted a quiet break in charming conditions and that is exactly what we got. Food in the Akrogiali taverna was excellent and the staff efficient and friendly.
Located in Kato Zakros, 27 miles from Sitia, Alkioni Sea View Apartment provides a restaurant and free WiFi. Wonderful place. Nicely appointed apartment, and fully equipped kitchen . Two rooms, bathroom with washing machine. Fantastic view, very peaceful. Spacious terrace outside. Small apartment complex, parking available. Friendly host.
Studios Stella is offering accommodations in Kato Zakros. The traditional and retro style rooms offer private balcony, air-condition, fridge, kitchenette and garden view. The rooms are situated in an idyllic, beautiful, extraordinary garden. Amazing sunrises! Peaceful and serene. Comfortable room-very well appointed decorated with traditional Greek antiques. All the equipment needed for food prep is available (should you want to cook with several great tavernas nearby!). Stella and her staff are fantastic. Her other rooms, Stella’s Minoika, on the neighboring hillside, are modern and gorgeous with views to die for. We had the opportunity to stay in both. Both are beyond special!
This is a place of peace and quiet. Great area for walking. There is the archealogical site, the gorge of the Dead to visit. Lots of choice for eating, i would recommend Akrogiali Taverna. Our accommodation was up high above the beach, which was not so good for anyone with problems walking.
Loved this little patch of heaven. We came in late September, it was really quiet with about 20 people spread on a relatively large beach. There are a few tavernas and hiking routes here so most people were hikers. If you want loud bars and busy this isn’t the place for you. If you want to unwind and be quite isolated then this place is it.
Kato Zakros is perfectly located if you enjoy walking with not only the gorge but other walks possible. For a quiet break with sea, beach, restaurants and walking it is perfect and seems to be a very quiet and laid back place.
Relaxing seaside fishing village famous for the ruins of the Minoan Palace. There is 4-5 tavernas right next to the beach. At the west side of the village there is a hiking path to take you to Pelekita Cave. There is also a path to link with 'Dead's Gorge.' A great location to explore Sitia Geopark.
Kato Zakros seems like a village that has travelled to the distant past. Time goes much slower there. Nature is all around you. The people are kind and interested in you. It is not a "chic," "fancy" place at all, thank goodness. It is down-to-earth, real, and beautiful. The Minoan archaeological site right there is fantastic.
There are a couple of nice walks you can do in the morning and then have a lovely swim in the afternoon. There is sunbeds and umbrellas free for the clients of the restaurants. The archeological site is nice as well. We thought the taverna prices on the high side for the quality you generally get. We thought Nostos Taverna relatively good, but difficult to judge because of Covid19, most tavernas did not have a lot of food yet; and we could not try them all out.
Georgia is very friendly and helpful. The bed is comfortable and we slept very well. It's quiet and Georgia put a lot of details into the rooms. Around the surroundings there is a hammock to relax and to pet the cats. The apartment is almost on the top of the hill so you have a nice overview to Kato Zakros and the bay. Extra: Georgia put us some nice wine into the fridge, which we could enjoy on the terrace. The communication is very easy. We recommend Georgia's Apartments very much.
Excellent views on the secluded bay of Kato Zakros. In close proximity to the beach, a few nice restaurants on the beach and the entrance / exit of the Dead Gorge. Wonderful hosts who have decorated the apartments and surrounding area with an exceptional eye for details. Unique setting that has great vibes to it. Hosts were so welcoming with welcome gifts consisting of wine, beer, water, raki, coffee, toast, self baked cookies and cake etc.
Locality perfect on the slope towards the sea. 20 min walk downhill to taverns and beach. No shops (great) no hotels (super), no noise. Just ideal place to hide and rest. Small town Zakros with shops and cafeterias 10 min drive (must have your own transport). Owner and his wife and all people I met there - friendly and helpful and hospitable as much that I can not find the words to describe you that.
Wonderful and comfortable stay in this apartment in Zakros. It was nice to be in the village where the community people of Zakros lives. It is an easy drive to the beach at Kato Zakros as well as the entrance to the Zakros Gorge. Highly recommend also to eat at the host's restaurant at the beach and hang out on the beach for awhile!
This place is the best place I stayed on Crete! It is beautiful, quiet and clean. Katerina and Maria take such good care of the guests and the gardens are incredible. Bed was extra comfy. Everyday I was provided water, fresh baked cake, honey, olives, bread and more. Zakros is a special place and I look forward to my next visit.
The best thing of this hotel was the location, and frankly the only good thing. The beach was beautiful, and at your room-step. The other positive was that the hotel provided beach loungers and umbrelas, which was great, especially because the room was not made to spend time in.
Marianna, the host, welcomed us with wine and homemade cookies. She was very kind and caring. The apartment itself is quite spacious for 2 people and very well equipped. The absolute highlight is the view on the sea and the mountains. It is such a quiet and unique spot on Crete.
A well cared for, clean and comfortable place with an amazing view of Kato Zakros bay. Great access to hiking the gorge and coastal walk. Owners very kind and generous with information, laundry service and a delicious cake waiting for us on arrival.
A charming place to stay in Crete and by far my favorite on the island! A postcard view from the front porch and healthy breakfast options. I felt at home and the place was clean. Hiking nearby and lovely beaches for relaxation.
Owners of hotel are very good people! Perfect location and very comfortable room!
At the end of the world, just joking, of Crete
