The room was even better than it is in picture; it was gorgeous. The staff were all nice and accommodating. Its location was perfect as it was only a stone throw away from a tram stop, making it convenient to travel from one point to another. I would like to mention how nice the staff were as I usually leave early for my tours and they made sure that I have a packed breakfast with me in my 2-day stay. I would highly recommend this place to my friends.

FAQs about hotels in Zagreb

Great Opening to Croatia

The only capital city in the world with a ski world cup race, Zagreb sits over 394 ft above sea level and has typical Central European architecture of cobblestone streets, impressive public buildings and well laid out landscaped grounds.

Built around two medieval settlements with the Upper Town (Gornji Grad) being its core, the city skilfully combines modern attractions with well-established favorites. Start your day at the Museum of Contemporary Art, then make a stop at the Zagreb Cathedral or make a wish at the Old Town Gate. The locals say it will be granted!

For a more relaxing time, Zagreb has two lakes - Jarun and Bundek - both offering recreational facilities and hosting festivals and events. After having fun in the sun, you might want to hit the shopping at the colorful markets and small boutiques selling local crystal, ceramics and cravats.

To get a different perspective on the city, climb Medvenica, a mountain over 3280 ft tall overlooking Zagreb, and admire the views while sipping famous Croatian wine. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Medvedgrad fortress.

Zagreb Airport is just 11 miles and a short bus ride from the city. Whether you’re looking for an elegant hotel, classic apartment or cozy hostel, Booking.com has about 80 accommodations options for you to choose from!

What Guests Said About Zagreb:

    I liked Zagreb.

I liked Zagreb. The historic center is small and not as impressive as in some other European cities, which may be why (and because there’s no beach) many people don’t recommend visiting. But I think it’s definitely worth it! There are many museums, and the Museum of Broken Relationships is exceptional – I loved it. The city also has plenty of cafés and it’s quite affordable. Two days are enough to see most of the highlights.

Good views to enjoy roaming around, particularly around the old town. Hop on hop off bus helps with picking on all the main points of attraction to take pictures. Plenty of interesting museums to visit. Plitvice lakes should be visited, where one can easily arrive at the autobusni kolodvor coach station with a tram and book a return coach trip from there.

During this trip we also visited other capital cities (Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Ljubljana). Compared to them, Zaghreb felt much less appealing to us. The city is dirtier, poorly maintained, and offers very few attractions worth mentioning. In our opinion, it may not be an essential stop.

Unfortunately, some of the Zagreb landmarks were under reconstruction or closed during our stay - the Parliament, the cathedral, the cable car to name a few. However, it is a vibrant city, and we enjoyed the crowd on Cvjetni Trg in the evening, as well as walking in the downtown area at daytime. The parking garage Galleria Business center was easy to find, affordable and safe parking option at all times.

Zagreb first impressions are deceptive as it initially comes across as a very tired city but once you get to wander around it, there is a great deal of charm to the place and lots of things to go and find. Trams are of course great so please keep them Zagreb! The fact there was an impromptu Black Sabbath event that filled the whole city with music was amazing, albeit sad in memoriam of Ozzy Osbourne; suffice to say something that will make the Zagreb trip stay long in our memories! Easy to journey around by car from Zagreb too, so this worked well. The cathedral without scaffolding has to be the next time to visit...albeit not sure when this will ever be! ;)

    I love Zagreb.

I love Zagreb. There are lots of nice restaurants to have a good food and you can have long walks in Upper Town, Downtown or maybe go to Maksimir Park which is quite big. Also the prices are not really extortionate like on the coast. It is a great city to visit at any time in the year.

From arrival to checkout all the staff were very helpful, all greeted us with a smile and helped us along with our very small knowledge of the Croatian language. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and of a good size. The food and drink were of a good quality. The location of the Hotel was excellent and had a very grand feeling to it. A very short walk and you could be in the main square, with all the hustle and bustle of a major City Center.

The room was very comfortable: there was plenty of space and we were upgraded for free, the beds were very comfortable and the hotel was quiet. The breakfast is good value for money at 8€ and very complete. We also dined at the hotel and the food was ok. The hotel is 1 km away from the city center but there is a tram stop close by and you can buy your ticket inside the tram, which is very convenient.
