Set on a farm 5 mi from Grundarfjördur, this modern guest house offers a 9-hole golf course, plus free Wi-Fi and parking. Snæfellsjökull National Park is 40 minutes’ drive away. We loved this stay. The owner is super helpful and nothing we asked was too much. The views from the room were really, really nice. Also, the common breakfast area is lovely with exceptional views. Highly recommend this property.

Located in Grundarfjordur, Hellnafell features air-conditioned accommodations with a terrace and free WiFi. This apartment has a garden and free private parking. We are a group of 6 Photographers. The location of the property was fantastic. 2mins drive to Kirkjufell, 30mins drive to the black church. Nothing more I can ask for. We can even shoot kirkjufell right outside the property. Fantastic
Set in the picturesque Grundarfjordur fishing village, this hotel is 14 mi from Snæfellsjökull Glacier National Park. It offers rooms and apartments with free Wi-Fi access. We stayed in the 2 bed apartment, stunning views of Mt Kirkjufell. Walking distance to shops and bars. Gorgeous scenery, and a very comfortable place to stay - nothing fancy but very satisfactory.
Located along the coastline in Grundarfjordur, Bjarg Apartments offers self-catering apartments with free WiFi and a private patio with impressive views of the fjord. Whole apartment with a gorgeous view over the harbour. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The only reason to stay overnight in Grundarfjordur is to eat at the Bjargarsteinn restaurant - great food, atmosphere and staff; highly recommended. Otherwise the accommodation options are poor and there are other far better places in the local area.
Nice little town. That is very walkable and peaceful. Not a lot of healthy restaurant options, but there is a market where you can buy food to prepare yourself. There is an excellent restuarant called Bjargarsteinn if you want to splurge. A pool in town or others a short drive away. I fell asleep so missed them, but two friends of mine were able to see the Northern Lights one of the evenings we were there.
We had little time. It was beautiful weather, and we did not manage horseback riding :( You can make treks to the mountains. The trip to the cave was great. Beautiful trip along the coast to the lighthouse.
Location is great for exploring the peninsula. A sleepy little town in an impressive location. We hiked up the mountain (family with teens), just south of the town and it was a wonderful daytrip full of nice surprises and wonderful views. I would have wanted to try out the local restaurants, but we were short on time.
Small town but with the great asset of the Kirjufell Mountain just beside it. There are also the Kirkjufell Falls...small in comparison with others you find in Iceland, but idyllic enough, especially when you can frame them in a photo with the Kirkjufell Mountain. We were in Grudarfjordur when they had a festival during which the town divided itself into zones identified with blue, red, yellow and green. It was "colorful" to feel and see the competition between the neighborhoods. ...this was the end of July.
Grundarfjordur is a perfect place to stay when travelling around Iceland. There are lots of attractions on the way from Reykjavik and the drive is stunning. Like all other little towns, there are lots of B & Bs, a supermarket, petrol station restaurants, food van and water and mountain views.
We stayed in the 2 bed apartment, stunning views of Mt Kirkjufell. Walking distance to shops and bars. Gorgeous scenery, and a very comfortable place to stay - nothing fancy but very satisfactory.
