Hotel Ristorante Radar is located in the Tuscan hills and has panoramic views, 5 mi from Carrara and its marble quarries. Guests can enjoy the local cuisine at the restaurant and drinks at the bar. Hotel Radar is utterly exceptional. The views from the balcony - overlooking Carrara and the Ligurian coast - are just breath-taking. The rooms are beautiful and well-equipped, and the hosts friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is superb. We have stayed here on four occasions and hope to return. Well worth the twisty drive up to the promontory, not least for the views inland toward the mountains and marble quarries.

The best thing about Carrara is the trip up into the surrounding marble mountains to visit the quarries there. This is a superbly organised tour with stunning views of the working quarries - an 'out there' experience. Carrara itself is small and, although it has some nice piazzas, has nothing much to recommend it for.
A beautiful city famous for its quarries in the mountains nearby and white marble. It has long beaches and many good restaurants. There are several small interesting tourist places nearby, A trip to nearby Pisa or Cinque Terre is also wonderful experience.
Carrara provided more interest than we had anticipated. The scenery in the Apuan Alps was stunning, the walking was superb, and it was interesting to learn about the history of marble quarrying in the area. We
This was a delightful and interesting town that we stumbled upon, because we wanted to see the source of marble in our home. This is not a widely visited tourist destination, which made it very special. Valentine recommended Marco's tour of the quarries, which was excellent, as his family had owned one and he had worked there. The long tour was about 2.5 hours and cost E110 for the vehicle. We visited the Duomo, the Academy of Fine Art and the Carmi Michelangelo museum, all free or little cost. There were a number of fine restaurants in the town. The bus from the centre of town goes to the Marina di Carrara for a good beach (E2.50). There are very few taxis, especially at the train station, and the taxi phone there did not work. We recommend The Beer Shop, Hop and Barley for craft beers, including mint, wonderful on very hot days in Summer,
Carrara is a fantastic city. With access to the marble quarry And wonderful food. From the Lardo to the sea food I couldn’t get enough. The Quarry tour was extraordinary. The sculptures make for an art lovers paradise.
Lovely room with en-suite & tv, very helpful & friendly host, she helped us get local info that we would never have found. Served a fine breakfast at the time we wanted. Location right in the middle of the old town. We were given keys so we could come & go as we pleased. Would highly recommend this friendly B&B.
