Beautiful location in the countryside nearby to Cerveteri and a short drive to the lovely beaches! We stayed one night after arriving in Rome, and travelling north of Italy. The hosts were so helpful and the homemade breakfast sweets were amazing! Would highly recommend and definitely be back!
A wonderful hideaway in the hilltops but perfectly located for the airport. Staff were amazing and room was comfy - with the opportunity for booking dinner if required which enabled us to relax even more.
Very pleasant small town (the old historic area) with nice community atmosphere. Worth visiting for the Etruscan necropolis and museum. Definitely not the cleanest due to lots of dogs and cats. Several good restaurants in the old town.
An Etrsucan gem; Cerveteri has an incredible site to explore at the necropoli. Do not believe the view of some guides that you can 'Do it all' in just a couple of hours - you will not see it all in a full 8 hours! (But they have a small cafe serving fresh pasta, water, wine etc to take a break!) The museum is well planned and is not excessively large- displays are bilingual in most cases. The Piazza Maria, churches (old and new) of S Maria Maggiore; and historic centre have small galleries as well as cafes and bars. Parking is not too big a problem - but beware of absent/faded/illegible road signs at junctions!
We mainly made the most of the gorgeous beach during our stay, swimming in the warm clear sea and relaxing on the sunbeds. There is a CO-OP supermarket in the town which was very useful as well as a number of pizzerias and restaurants. The train station is easy to get to and the train into Rome is only half an hour and a few euros per person.
We came to explore the Etruscan tombs, and these are first rate. Very good site, well organised and staff very helpful. Great deli in the main square of Cerveteri. Excellent museum, with some world-class items in it. Easy parking.
Allow enough time for the Necropolis which was vast. Make sure you get the remote to operate the sound system in some of the tombs. Only one restaurant in town seemed particularly quaint and it was already fully booked on the Saturday night that we visited. Others were OK though I suspect locals may look to argitourismo's for a good spread.
A little paradise in the middle of the countryside. Everything was perfect, from the location to the attention to details of the hosts. We felt so lucky to find such a beautiful place, we totally recommend it and we can't wait to visit again soon!
Dinner and breakfast were excellenct, on a nice terrace
