Hotel Diana is in the heart of Lucca's historic center, right around the corner from the Duomo di San Martino Cathedral. It offers colorful, air-conditioned rooms and free Wi-Fi.

Our stay here was wonderful! Lucca is a hidden gem, and the location of Hotel Diana is right off the Piazza San Martino. The room is basic, but it's spacious and just fine for a couple for a few days. The staff are very pleasant and professional, and the check-in experience was easy. All in all, this was a great spot for a short trip to one of the prettiest cities we've ever been to. Highly recommend!

FAQs about hotels in Lucca

The Masterpiece of Puccini

Once Italy’s 2nd largest city-state, elegant Lucca remains an important town on any itinerary in beautiful Tuscany. Its instantly recognizable historic center is completely surrounded by Renaissance-era walls which offer a leisurely "passeggiata."

Tree-lined bastions overlook the surrounding modern town, but their low height means that the best photo opportunities of medieval Lucca are from Torre Guinigi. This tower topped with trees overlooks the rooftops below and lush mountains beyond.

The bell tower of San Frediano is even taller and stands back from the elaborate gold mosaic adorning the church’s façade. Equally interesting is Lucca Cathedral’s façade, where every column is unique. The church of San Michele in Foro is on the site of the Roman forum, and the Domus Romana excavations are of a house from a similar era.

Roman amphitheater remains also form foundation stones of the medieval houses, cafés and shops of oval-shaped Piazza Anfiteatro. More sidewalk restaurants line Piazza Napoleone, Lucca’s largest square, around the corner from San Giovanni church, home to a festival celebrating Puccini, the town’s most famous son. Unsurprisingly, music is a big thing here, and summer and winter festivals showcase genres other than just opera.

Booking.com’s range of Lucca accommodations includes apartments, B&Bs and 5-star hotels. Properties are available near the train station, and some include swimming pools and parking.

    We absolutely loved Lucca.

We absolutely loved Lucca. Beautiful city that was easily walkable. Not a touristy as Florence or Sienna at all. All the shops and restaurants spoke English but were happy to let us practice our Italian. Great vibe very clean and a lovely city for a short break. Very easy to get to on the train from Pisa. Very safe city. Definitely going to return soon.

Lucca, Italy is a unique city.

Lucca, Italy is a unique city. The streets are narrow and the buildings are tall. I did some research before my family went but I didn’t realize that the city was so compact. I loved it! It felt like a make believe place. We enjoyed walking around and shopping in their unique stores ( it did not feel touristy). I recommend riding bikes on the Lucca wall. I also highly recommend going for a stroll in the evening when the sun has gone down . My husband and I walked to a not so big piazza where people were at bars watching football and enjoying their evening and right next to them is a huge old chiesa(church). Wow! To see people enjoying a common evening right next to a beautiful church was something to experience. Take a reusable water bottle to an Italy. The locals get thier water from specific fountains all the time , all around Italy (look into this). My family loved being a part of this One night we went out of our hotel and went to the ornate fountain to fill our bottles. There were three local teenagers getting drinks. I wonder if they realize his unique and special there life in Lucca is. just being there and meeting locals is the best. It’s romantic !🌷

On top of that, attenzione all fishermen!

On top of that, attenzione all fishermen! Ther are great trout and grayling rivers close to Lucca. I do fly fishing and in San Ginese is Moreno Borriero (15 min from Lucca). My guide for 4 times already, He gives great fishing guiding, makes bamboo rods and flies. You get to know them and they invite you for a BBQ at their house. We stayed here for 2 night (booked for one but we’re so happy booked for a 2nd) whilst exploring Lucca during a 3 week trip to Northern/middle Italy - so close to the city walls that it is a 5 min walk. Beds were the most comfortable and this hotel feels so much more like a 4 star than 3; staff are excellent and so accommodating and it feels very very friendly

The small hotel is like a Villa in one of 'the secret gardens of Lucca' in the close hills south of town. You will find a wonderful new swimming pool in this garden. Breakfast is excellent and staff extremely frindly. Mattress perfect, firm but comfortable, in no way saggy. By car you can reach the old town of Lucca in a few minutes.
