Beautiful Tuscan walled city with lots to see and do in the two days we were there. Walk the wall, climb the treed tower, shop the pedestrian friendly streets, enjoy Pasquale and his delicious food at Osteria da Pasquale, savor the pizza and gelato, just wander the winding medieval streets and piazzas. The tourist center on the edge of town provides excellent help in planning a visit to Lucca.
Great place to fill that you are in Renaissance Italy. Great restaurants and excellent values. I will certainly return to Lucca when I visit Firenze again. Only one hour by train. Lucca is a must see
Lucca is a charming city, surrounding by walls you can walk on. Many churches and old building/tower, shopping street is very pleasant, many restaurants. Impressive cathedral + city of Puccini, you can visit his house. Tour in bikes is very convenient and easy but you can also walk as not too big.
We stayed two nights. We used it as a base for Pisa, so most of our whole day was spent out of town. We walked around the old city wall, which is a fantastic promenade. The cathedral is worth seeing, as are the roman ruins in the other church adjacent. A lot of shops and restaurants seemed to be closed for the season, although there was still plenty to choose from. Easily accessible by train.
Easy city to walk around. Wonderful food choices at reasonable rates. The Puccini music concert is excellent and worth repeating as the program changes daily. Many notable churches, museums and gardens to enjoy. Our favourite restaurant was Buca S. Antoine which is near San Michele Cathedrale. We went 5 times over a 6 day stay! Even locals rate it THE best spot for Lucchese cuisine in the city.
I absolutely love Lucca. I love it so much I named my daughter Lucca. Fantastic places to eat if you go off track. Many recommended places were actually a disappointment m, better to go for the quieter streets. Trattoria de Vasco is great! Trattoria buralli is out favorite! Spaghetti vongoli is almost the best I've had! The old city cafe is great for breakfast. Visit the botanics if you like trees and walk the walls as much as possible, very helpful when lost. Everyone gets lost, don't panic, it's part of the fun. Also visit museum of the walls. Very interesting and well interpreted. Enjoy!
Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Very smooth check in and check out. The breakfast was excellent. Location very good and very quiet considering it was very close to the railway station...very convenient for visitors to Italy travelling by train! Bike hire shop is just across the road from this hotel which is a great way to explore the old town of Lucca. Hotel Rex is right beside the walled entrance to the old town. Overall, a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this hotel; great value for money.
Wow! What a place Lucca is! To finish our tour of Italy in Lucca was so special, and the place we stayed just made it perfect. Set inside the walls of the city, it was perfectly placed for access to walks, sightseeing, eating and drinking yet was quiet at night. Our host was just brilliant and breakfast was fab. Very modern, clean and great touches of decor. We left with some fantastic memories and will definitely return to Lucca and stay here.
The best place that we stay in our trip, Mr Andrea ( the owner) is an incredible person, he received very well and give very good indications to visit Lucca and region, the restaurants and patisserie indicated are really from his heart. The room are brand new and comfortable, every thing was very good. More one thing that I could not forget, his vine, produced by himself is perfect... Very good taste, one of the best I trained in Italy.
Everything! The location, the homely feeling, the exceptional staff- Roberto the manager is unique and makes you feel you are visiting a family member, no request is too small for him! The housekeeper is also very diligent and serves amazing breakfasts in the privacy of your sitting room.I stayed in dozens of luxury hotels in Italy but this very special bed and breakfast beats many. It is called exceptional service!

It was a chance to stay in a real Italian villa and loved every minute!!! Thank you!!

Its "small" Tuscan villa, with fantastic position under the hill. It's green all around. Near by is enough space for short walking. They have pool to, out of season is closed.
Lovely friendly hotel in beautiful location
