In a town called Pontone above the Almafi coast, there was a path to take to go to the coast if you are healthy as it is about an hours hike down and a taxi during peak season runs $60-70 euros to go down and back up. Few restaurants rite there around the hotel and Blu Bar as well. Definitely go back again. Staff was helpful and the grounds very clean with a new pool being built.

The view was a million dollar view. The hosts were wonderful. Very clean and nice furniture and bright. Seriously you will never have a view like this again. You are on top of the mountain. The host was very attentive to our needs. There was pretty great bus services into Amalfi.
We did it once, but drove to where we needed to get the
bus. We only spent one evening in Almalfi and explored all the little towns on the coast…not far by car and a lot of different beaches. Bring water shoes for sure. Bring a water bottle from home so you can keep cold water in it. Very nice patio overlooking the view.

Luigi was very solicitous and had great suggestions for restaurants and cafes. The Scala location was gorgeous and the room was tastefully decorated. I loved the terrace overlooking Ravello and spent time there. My husband was thrilled that there was a washing machine and he could leave Scala with clean clothes. The room was equipped with a stove and I could make tea.
I loved how non-touristic Scala was.

Antonio and his family were exceptionally nice and the food served for breakfast and dinner were superb. It was close to the town of Scala where you could catch a bus or eat at a few different restaurants. We walked to Ravello in about 30 minutes which is a really nice quiet village to stroll around in. Nice place to take in the beauty of Italy

Nearby Ravello may be more beautiful, but Scala has more of a sense of community. Also, it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns of Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento in the evenings, and have no trouble finding restaurants or places to drink. We found a lovely restaurant in Scala's main square, the Ristorante dei Cavalieri, which comes highly recommended. We ate there on three occasions as the food was of such a high standard, the service was exemplary and the cost very reasonable. I also ate at our hotel (Ravello View) on one night, and it proved to be the culinary highlight of our holiday. It was a Sea Bream with cooked vegetables, and it was superb. Located just two to three miles above the coastal resorts of Amalfi and Atrani, and across the valley from Ravello, Scala is a perfect location to discover the delights of the Amalfi Coast and beyond.

Scala is lovely and Ravello walkable If you are fit.
Scala is lovely and Ravello walkable If you are fit. The bus service to Amalfi and Ravello could be a little erratic. Having a car is more of a hinderance than a help. Restaurants and cafes are available. San Lorenzo Cathedral is worth a visit. They still use mules to deliver goods etc in the village. A very quaint town

There is only 1 restaurant and a pizzaria in the village.
There is only 1 restaurant and a pizzaria in the village. The shops are very basic but you should be able to get most things if you self-cater. It is easy to get to Ravello by bus (tickets must be purchased in advance from the "card shop"). Ideally you need your own transport as the terrain is very hilly. It is expensive to get to and from the airport by taxi.

Great little town, quite and off the busy Amalfi coast towns with a nice view. Having a car really helped. There was a great restaurant within a 20 minute walk of our B&B. You need to be in good shape to walk around, as very hilly.

Scala is quiet, authentic and charming, with beautiful views...
Scala is quiet, authentic and charming, with beautiful views of Ravello and the Amalfi coast everywhere you go. There are a few decent café and restaurant options, mostly in the town center. This is a steep mountain village so having a car to go up and down the switchback slopes is highly recommended. Finding parking in the small town center was never an issue, not even in the middle of July.
Absolutely loved the fantastic views across the ravine to Ravello from our balcony and could even see the sea. There were great views also from the breakfast room and also the lounge and terrace. Our room was cleaned and tidied everyday and there was a good choice for breakfast. Also the staff were all friendly and helpful. The tranquility of Scala was wonderful and it's well positioned for hiking and walking.
I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The cleanliness was impeccable, and Carla, our host, was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. She went above and beyond by assisting me in arranging a car rental when I was having trouble. She also helped my friend, who had lost her luggage, get in touch with the airport. Carla was always there when we needed assistance, making our stay so enjoyable.
Friendly, welcoming, everything was perfect. Spotlessly clean. Superb views of all ravello and local area. Lovely pool with good sunbeds and umbrellas. Excellent breakfast with numerous choices and tasty evening meal. Excellent family run business. We loved our stay at the hotel and the surrounding areas of Scala. A peaceful and beautiful place. We love it. 10 out of 10.
The apt was very well equipped , we loved the balcony overlooking the valley and Ravello across the way. Scala is a lovely quiet village, away from the hectic amalfi. Luigi was very helpful regarding recommendations for restaurants, shopping etc.
Place has wonderful views and village of Scala is very quiet and well communicated. You have to walk 15 min to reach the apartment but in an amazing landscape !
