Beautiful boutique hotel. The lovely attentive staff made our stay worthwhile. Their thoughtfulness was the best part of our trip to Nagasaki. Everyone remembered us and our preferences. I enjoyed the tea and sweets offered upon check-in - a nice touch bc it saved me the headache of deciding which place to get the castell cakes from. I enjoyed the location, just a little bit away from the main town. I enjoyed walking to Nagasaki Station (20 mins), passing along Chinatown, Dejima and the harbor. Hailing from San Francisco, I enjoyed the steep hills. Invest in the walk up to Glover Garden and the Sky Road was and you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views in the morning and evening.

Nagasaki has a very interesting history.

Nagasaki has a very interesting history. It was the area in Japan that was the first to settle foreigners especially religious missionaries. Many churches and businesses were started there. I have lived in Tokyo for over 25 years, but seeing places outside of there such as Sapporo and Nagasaki among others gives a much wider view and impression of the country. Nagasaki is a must visit for anyone coming to experience Japan. It's really cool riding the many streetcars (trams) that run all over the city. There are many historical sites to visit which include ancient temples and the Atomic Bomb Museum. A can't miss museum is the site where the 26 martyrs were executed. They exhibit an actual letter written by St. Francis Xavier among others.

Small town with a lot of history. 1 full day was sufficient (2 nights). In the morning we visited the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Park area. After lunch we ventured out to the Glover House, which is really very nice. It gives a good overview of the history of Nagasaki and Japan in general. The art museum would have been a nice add-on, but there was an imense queue so we skipped.

The night view at Mt Inasa is breathtaking. Bring tripod and your best camera along. Jacket probably required if you are worried about winds and coldness. And this in summer, on a somewhat on and off drizzling night.

Nagasaki is one of the oldest cities in Japan and has a rich history of trading with Dutch and Portuegese, hidden Christians, Modernization dn of couse the horrible Abomb. We went to the Peace Museum and they do not pull any punches in describing the devastation wreaked on the civilian population from the ABomb. There were lots of school children and lots f positive learning. Don't skip this amazing city when you come to Japan.

We loved the slope car down from the observatory.

We loved the slope car down from the observatory. Wish we had got that both ways. Hated the hike to Glover Gardens. We are in our 70s and there should have been warning signs about the long and steep path. Also very few flowers. There was an escalator up and down to the Peace Park. Walking along the river by the Spectacles Bridge was quiet and peaceful.

Great value hotel, an easy walk from the train station, courteous staff, the rooms are compact but comfortable, and the hotel offers many free inclusions such as a public onsen, late night ramen, yakult in the mornings and icy poles in the afternoons. We had a fantastic stay and would absolutely stay here again next time we visit Nagasaki!
