Nikko is definitely a tourist town. But a very different feel from Tokyo. Although the shrines/temples were inundated with fellow tourists, they were really quite amazing. One full day exploring Nikko is good. You need a car to see the waterfalls and they are worth it. Great restaurants in town. Trout from the nearby stream makes for amazing sashimi. We mainly stayed in the area to take our kids to Edo...
We mainly stayed in the area to take our kids to Edo Wonderland which is about a 20 minute drive from the property. It was a very easy drive from the property and after, we were able to walk around the town and see the sights. It's maybe a 15 minute walk slightly uphill to get to the shrines, bridges etc. Small town compared to Tokyo but still has good charm. We loved the traidtional style Japanese house we stayed in and it also had two bathrooms and two showers, which was nice.Guest review byDavidJapan

It is located not far off the main road and there is a conbini in walking distance. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are tidy. All rooms have a beautiful river view The Onsen baths are beautiful and spacious, with a small rest area on the lower floor.
