We loved our stay at Halcyon. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need and the location is quiet and set right on the beach. We enjoyed beach walks and paddling on the lagoon which the hotel set up for us free of charge. The food is amazing and the staff really attentive and friendly. We would come again and highly recommend to others wanting a peaceful and comfortable stay.

Very close to beach, the staff were great and the fold was also nice. The manager was helpful and arranged a dinner on the beach on the first night. I would recommend this hotel.

It started when we arrived and were already awaited and greeted by manager John and his girlfriend Adele with big smiles :) They were so very helpful and nice throughout our stay and made the experience perfect. John always had tips for us about where to go and was always available when we had any questions. We were staying in one of their two villas, and it was so nice to have our own living room with comfy couch and even small kitchen with two fridges for drinks. The villas are the most set back from the front of the property and offer perfect privacy if that's what you want. Everything was super clean and nicely furnished - we felt very comfortable. The terrace with lounge chair and sitting area with coffee table was ideal for having a morning coffee and just enjoy the sounds of nature. The staff! Nuan and Ruzindu (I hope I wrote the names correctly) were the two waiters in the restaurant, and they both did a great job. While I do not remember the chef's name, I need to mention him and the kitchen staff as well, because the food there was some of the best we had during our stay in Sri Lanka. Also, Tila, who takes care of the cleaning and gardens, together with another man, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, where truly warm and kind to us and always passed by our villa for a chat whenever they passed. The staff, together with John and Adele made the stay there to what it was - PERFECT! The property itself is simply beautiful: Laid out very well with lush greenery and nicely done paths throughout, there are 5 rooms in total - 2 villas and 3 bungalows. The hotel was planned and designed very thoughtfully and you feel the emphasis on the detail there. It sits on a beautiful stretch of beach, which is always empty and you can walk for miles in any direction. The sea was not swimmable while we were there due to the strong waves, but it was still beautiful just to look at it and enjoy the views.

We really liked staying at the Inn. The owner was the loveliest person! She made very delicious breakfast and was always there for us. Also her son was so nice and took us to the turtle rescue. He waited for us for as long as we wanted to stay and gave us information about the turtles. We really liked this family and we hope we can come back someday.

My wife and I stayed at Lagoon Gate during our short trip to Tangalle. Due to the affordable cost of the lodgings, we were unsure what type or property it would be and what kind of service we would get; however, once arriving, we were very impressed with the property and the staff on site. The rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with a balcony to relax on in the evening. The swimming pool on site is warm and has a great surrounding area. As the property only has 6-8 guesthouses, it is not too overcrowded and an overall peaceful experience if you are looking to relax. For those active guests, kayaks are available to use free of change and gives you a chance to paddle over to the neighboring island to explore the beach (it took us about 25 Minutes in a double kayak). As it is in quite a remote location, there are no options to venture out for meals (unless you have a car); therefore, your only option is dining in the property’s on-site restaurant. This wasn’t a problem tho as the food was fantastic and the service even better. The portion sizes are massive and the owner was always giving us little extras, such as fruit, soup and even a few local spirits. The menu was reasonably priced, with the majority of main meals costing between 7-9 USD and had a fairly wide selection of local and international options. They also have a selection of beer and spirits for those looking to have a few drinks (also a stocked mini bar in your room). Over all, we would give our stay a solid 10/10 as it more than exceeded our expectations, considering the price. Will definitely be back in the future. Mark & Sarah

We loved our stay at Serenity. Beautiful, well kept buildings and grounds and attentive staff. The food was very good too. Town is only 10 minutes walk and many restaurants along the beach.

Simply peace means truly peace. Our host, Suresh made sure that every wish became true. I became 35 during my stay and he and the crew made sure that my day would be special. I'm grateful for being here during this special day. From the cleaning to the food everything was 5 stars! Breakfast is incredible. Nice rooms and very comfortable beds. The pool and the view over the lake made our days memorable 😍 If the owner of the hotel reads this, the crew definitely deserves a big kudos! 😊 The service was over the top! Thank you so much, we will definitely be back.

    The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

    Tangalle is a mix of typical large commercial local Sri Lankan town buzz combined with touristy beach / restaurant / bar area. Very laid back along that 'strip', many bars and restaurants vying for business so you can be selective.

    Perfect place to relax by the beaches, some of them are like or similar a near private beach type; but, difficult to swim. Generally, the waves and current are rough and sometime dangerous to rocky beaches; in early morning time, 9-10 am, waves and current can be managed to some extent....

    It’s more of a local sleepy town and less touristy than the rest of the south coast. Lots of great beaches and family run restaurants. I could have easily used it as a base and stayed longer had the weather been better.

    Tangalle is a hidden gem!

    Tangalle is a hidden gem! So many wonderful beaches around the town. I stayed by the Goyambokka beach but preferred the neighbouring Silent beach, which was longer and so beautiful. I had dinner at neighbouring South Sea Pearl Beach restaurant, which served amazingly delicious food.

    The town has very little to offer.

    The town has very little to offer. It’s a noisy, chaotic typical Sri Lankan town. The only redeeming factor was Silent Beach on the Western side of town. We also enjoyed a nice meal at Cactus Lounge.

    Location is amazing, nearest place to the best beach in Sri Lanka. For us it become not just hotel but our temporary "home" where you always feels welcome. Tharu and Raji cook best food in Sri Lanka! You can feel Sri Lanka ONLY if you live nearby or with Sri Lanka people. Amazing family hosted us in amazing place, and captured amazing memories for the ret of our lives. We miss you already,and we can't wait to come back!!! Thank you soooo much!!!

    Very nice hotel, super clean in a very good location close to a nice beach and at the same time not far from tangalle center. The family was amazing, kind and willing too o help any time. The breakfast was excellent, big variety and super tasty. By far the best I had in Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend this hotel.

    It was out best hotel in Sri Lanka. The Ukrainian couple that owns the place is super kind and helpful. The hotel is super clean and they care about every detail. The beach is stunning and idyllic. We will definitely come back here

    One of the Closest hotels to the Goyambokka Beach, They have best staff ever. especially Lal, and Sarfaraz Great food at their restaurant. We had some of our best food in all of Sri Lanka in this hotel. Would stay here again.

    This was the best (and most expensive) hotel on our trip to Sri Lanka. Awesome bungalows with a nice view and we had the beach for ourselves! Cappuccino was also great here :-)
