Very charming and beautiful hotel in a very good location (close to the beach, main square & restaurants/bar). The rooms are very spacious, super clean and beautiful. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Beautiful pool area with sunbeds and hammocks. Very good breakfast with something for everyone. I‘d definitely recommend staying in this great place! Thank you so much for everything- you made my stay on Holbox perfect.

I would highly recommend Palapas del Sol. It is about 10-15 mins walk to the main town, past other hotels and along the beach. The walk is very safe to do, in fact the whole island is very safe. I preferred being a little outside of the main town as the town is quite noisey with music and taxi carts. I found that all of the really nice hotels were out close to Palapas del Sol. The hotel itself is right on the beach and very clean. The staff are extremely helpful and you can WhatsApp them anything you want throughout your stay. You WhatsApp them every morning with your breakfast order and whether you would like it in the restaurant, at the beach bar, at the beach or at your room and they deliver it there. They were also very helpful with organising transfers to and from the island and tours. I had read some reviews that people have difficulty getting beach beds but I didn’t find this at all, they have lots of beds on the beach and also lots at the front of the hotel which is about 20metet walk from the sea. Highly recommended

We have absolutely nothing negative to say about our stay. The vicinity/location was perfect for us, it’s a far enough from the centre that it’s reasonably quiet and so relaxing. The beach/hotel itself, the views are amazing! Our room got cleaned every day as we bought sand in from the beach and the cleaner was great. But the best thing by far was the amazing staff!!!! Carolina and all of the workers were exceptional, so helpful and nothing was too much to ask. Just on this fact alone, we’ll be trying to come back yearly!! Best staff ever and best hotel ever! We loved holbox so much.

This hotel is located in a central yet quiet area. Despite being fully booked, it maintained a calm atmosphere, and I didn't hear any noise from neighbors or the street. The cleanliness is impressive, and I found the room to be spacious with a very comfortable bed. It's just a 7-minute walk to the port and 5 minutes to the beach, with a fantastic restaurant right across the street. Everything you need is conveniently close by. I would recommend it 100%.

Great big room, good AC and fan, fantastic shower, lovely facilities. Really nice (if small) pool area with lounge chairs for when the beach is too windy. Genuinely a very nice place to stay, quiet, calm, comfortable, if you are OK with a bit of a walk in and out of town/beach.

    Holbox Island was great.

Holbox Island was great. The center has an easy/casual vibe but lively and has good restaurant and store options. They had some great trendy cafes, also the streets are sand and can get flooded so don't plan on dressing up. We took the ferry there and a private boat back. I like the private boat option better. It was just as quick and a little cheaper and we had a really early flight so the ferry's werent working. If you have an early flight from Cancun, do not stay the night before on Holbox Island. It will require some extra planning if you do. The sandbar is beautiful. We went to coco beach to see the Bioluminescence by ourselves and it saved us lots of money because we were a big group. The taxi drivers are not very friendly but they typically follow the prices that they post but you will get the sly one sometimes. overall, I would reccomend Holbox and the Island life.

Punta Mosquito was our absolute favorite, but Punta Coco was also surprisingly beautiful! We were glad we checked both out! The bioluminescence was a pretty cool tour, along with the whale shark tour. Be aware that most taxis are fairly expensive, and you won't find any rides cheaper than 100 MXN pesos. Don't bother with the kayak tour. You won't see much wildlife. The mangroves are pretty cool though! Kayaking is a bit tough. I do think the tour guides should provide a lot more instruction. Try to stay close to Punta Mosquito to avoid high taxi charges.

    Beautiful but very expensive everywhere.

Beautiful but very expensive everywhere. Great beaches and friendly helpful people everywhere. The island is walkable or golf cart taxis are only 100 pesos to go almost anywhere. They only take a maximum of 4 people, which was a problem for us. 5 with a baby! They can't take that many. Regulations. Excellent food everywhere but expensive. Nothing opens before 8am except oxxo. Book a hotel with a restaurant if you want early breakfast. Check opening hours! We did the whale shark swim. Cool but overrated. They swim very fast and don't interact. They are trying to get away!

Very nice island if you're okay with walking/bicycling a bit. Definitely a place for people in good physical shape, as there are many missing bricks, uneven surfaces, and potholes throughout the streets. Absolutely wonderful food, and generally friendly people at every turn. More low-key than Isla Mujeres, and will be my go to from now on for a relaxing beach trip. Bring sunscreen and bug spray!

Holbox Island is an absolutely wonderful place and worth the time it takes to get there. Won´t go into detail about all the sites but just offer you a thing that I hadn´t tried before but worked for us very nicely on this trip. So even though everyone likes a Beach Club my girl and I do like to venture out to the quiet beach spots and spend a day the way you imagine a place like Holbox to be: quiet "virgin" beach, beautiful ocean, no development, few people around. Except there is the problem of no shade and no drinks. Here is how we solved as we were traveling only with our carry on luggage. Holbox is a remote island but it does have Amazon and MercadoLibre (amazon for latam) services. About a week before our arrival I ordered a Beach Tent (seen in the pictures) to arrive at our hotel. I packed all my clothes inside a cloth/nylon cooler backpack and packed that backpack inside my carryon luggage (sort of like a packing cube). And finally, from REI we had those tiny foldable chairs made of aluminum (those they always let you through at airport security since they have no pointy edges) The beach tent was waiting for us when we arrived and it was amazing. Great shade small size. We wandered off and spend three of our days at amazing beaches. To top it off, I left the tent with the bar attendant whom we made friends with during our stay and just a few days ago she sold it to a family also visiting for the week and paypaled us the amount (plus her comission). My idea is to have this beach tent stay in holbox from one tourist to the next. Anyway, thought I would leave that tip here.

This place is a scam. We booked a room at this hotel, but on arrival were told (after paying local tax) that our room was actually several blocks away with a different hotel. The manager/owner gave conflicting excuses (overbooking, AC issues, booking too early/late) and kept pushing us to worse hotels further from the beach and main town. It’s clear the intent is to lure guests in and then relocate them to cheaper spots. The non-management staff were polite, but I STRONGLY recommend avoiding this hotel at all cost.

I strongly recommend Soho boutique Hotel. Originally we booked 2 nights at the Hotel, but we liked the place so much, that we decided to stay for 2 more nights. The staff was very helpful with whatever we needed. The location is great - 15 minutes walking from the crowded center. For us it meant that we could spend lazy days in a very calm surrounding and easily walk to the center in the evening for a dinner or a party. Great facilities - the hotel has its own sunbeds on the beach where we'd spend our days.

A really beautiful small boutique hotel. The rooftop bar is lovely to chill out at and does good cocktails, and the pool area doesn’t have many beds but is really relaxing. Our room was lovely and always very clean. Great shower! Unlimited free water from the breakfast area open 24-7 was great as saves you having to constantly buy bottles of water. Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the beach and the sea is absolutely beautiful! There is a cute hotel dog called Mia
