NetherlandsIncredibly beautiful place! The room was very spacious, comfy and clean, with everything that we needed. The territory is very green with a clean pool and enough space to just sit there and relax in the shadow of the trees.
It was a pleasure to meet the owner, who was very helpful and friendly.
One of the evenings a couple of cute spider-monkeys with a baby came to the property. :)

GermanyThis was my 4th visit to Hotel Lunata in Playa del Carmen since 2002. On the surface, very little has changed over the years. In this case, that is a very good thing! Of course there has been some modernization in that time, such as very good WiFi for each room, however the warm and inviting room design, the friendly staff and the overall impression the hotel leaves have all not changed. We again had a very pleasant visit and were sad to leave.
The breakfast is very basic with some cereals, tea, coffee and toast. It’s enough to get you going into the day, but it’s not a feast and is not the main focus of this boutique hotel. It is self-service in the Lunata natural garden, just like it was in 2002. We brought some fruits from the market and the staff offered to peel and cut the fruit for us. Fantastic service.

It's Time to Playa
At the centre of the Mayan Riveria is Playa del Carmen, a playground for hip Europeans and toned-and-tanned Americans. This resort town showcases the renowned white-sand beaches of the Caribbean Coast along the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Playa del Carmen's powdery white sands are nestled between Cancun to its north, Tulum in the south and the island of Cozumel, 20 km east with its fantastic diving in the nearby Great Maya Reef. Awake from an afternoon nap to take a dip, go snorkelling or deep-sea fishing in the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Playa is an easy choice as a holiday destination with its range of hotels, many first-class restaurants and beachside nightclubs. Quinta Avienda, also known as 5th Avenue, is the main tourist hub and shopping district. For a more authentic Mexico experience, venture outside of the centre to a local cenote (sinkhole) or Mayan ruins in Tulum.
Cruise ships dock in nearby Cozumel and traffic people to the mainland arriving at the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal. If the glimmering Caribbean waters are full, then Booking.com has a huge number of hotels with an outdoor swimming pool by the beach.

Playa del carmen, a vibrant city, although the beaches aren’t the most beautiful in Mexico, it is authentic and is the centre for activity.
Vendors on the streets push drugs but the police presence is heavy and I felt safe completely. Very hot, sun was being for the entire 7 days (1st till 8th March). Excellent location for excursions

Playa del Carmen is a very lively town, and the restaurants and bars are friendly. Food at most venues was good, but not all. The only downside is it is very expensive to eat and drink out every day and night in the town, hence we ate in some nights to keep the budget sensible during our holiday. Beaches we did not use due to the over-growth of the seaweed, which was a real shame, however, they have this problem year in and year out in this part of Mexico, so not fault of any residents or staff members at resorts etc. We organised an amazing boat trip, so were able to swim in the beautiful Ocean of this area, so not all bad!

The quality of foods and drinks , the resurants , the cleaners and the size of rooms and internal activities were excellent.
Unfortunately, the beach was so dirty and full of algae and ocean wastes , it smelled even very bad , it was not possible to swim or have activities in the beach in water. They did not mentioned that in their website !!

There is so much to do snd see. The local people are very friendly. I did get overcharged at a couple restaurants that i did not know until my bank statement came in. Ie. $35 cdn for 1 smoothie and 1 scoop of ice cream at Haggen Das on 5th.

Playa del Carmen was welcoming, with friendly locals and shopkeepers who weren’t too pushy, and even though the centre is full of tourist shops, there are still plenty of great places to explore and experience.

Playa is o.k. but we were interested in taking ferry to Cozumel where we went diving. Playa is packed with vendors, most of them will rip you off on prices. There are some great restaurants around Playa and plenty of selections. If you are not familiar with shopping in Playa.....buyer beware. Most venders will way over charge you for their goods, go to Walmart first, that is your best bet.

Thankfully the staff changed our room. We arrived after more than 30 hours of travel only to find a damp, dark room with no outlook. I advocated for a change and we moved to a more suitable room for our two week stay. I shared a king bed with my daughter. Not ideal. This is a hotel for singles or couples, not family. The staff were helpful with that move.
If you are wanting the loud, party scene of Playa Del Carmen then this is the place for you. It’s smack dab in the middle of it all.

Cas'Arte was the perfect hotel for our stay over at Playa del Carmen. Nice facilities, easy to park our car, quiet during the night, and still super close to the centre and great breakfast places like Choux Choux Café. Above all, it was the owner and host Fabri who made it an exceptional experience. Fabri took intensively care of us, helping us with whatever question we had, he is extraordinary :-)

This will definitely be my hotel of choice now in Playa del Carmen. The staff are so welcoming and the rooms have huge comfortable beds and constant hot water in the shower. There are 2 small pools if you want to relax away from the beach. Both ADO bus terminals are close by as is the beach and a range of places to eat.
