New home with spacious rooms. Nice views. Modern. Comfortable layout. A wonderful home! Spacious rooms. Windows that open easily! Washer machine is splendid. Location is a ten minute walk from the trailhead of an outstanding hike called Nonstinden and Ballstadheia. Ballstad initially looked to us like a sleepy village but it’s a gem with an excellent location for the outdoors.

Great location with beautiful views. Astrid and Trond were great communicators, checking in with us before arrival and making sure that everything was ready. Somehow the drive was even plowed and ready for us on a snowy day. Kitchen was well equipped and the living space was very cozy by the fire. Trond even made a special trip to refill our firewood. Can’t say enough about how’s great the place is. We will definitely return the next time we are in Lofoten.

Ballstad is a pituresque fishing village surronded by mountains. It's located right in the center of Lofoten which makes it a great base for those we want to explore the archipelago. Buksnes church is charming and a must see. Also it's near to Leknes where you can find a lot of stores and supermarkets. Ballstad will have a special place in our hearts as it was where we saw the most fantastic Aurora show which we were expecting for so long.

Perfect location in the center of the Lofoten Islands.

Perfect location in the center of the Lofoten Islands. We were able to take day trips to the north and south without having to relocate. The location outside of Leknes had easy access to the main road, gas and restaurants if not eating at our hotel - Hattvika Lodge.

There's not a lot to do in Ballstad plus I felt the view...

There's not a lot to do in Ballstad plus I felt the view from the lodge was just okay. It is on the water but overlooks a cod fishing plant which is authentic but there are other towns whereby the view is in a fjord and much nicer to look out to. Ballstad is convenient as it is a good midway point for the Lofoten Islands but I would recommend other towns to stay in for views and shops and cafes.

Very small town with limited hotel and dining options. You visit Norway for the scenery but driving into Ballstad was one of the least scenic roads we were on. No compelling reason too visit or stay.

We loved Villa Ballstad! Since we were the only guests at that time, we got an upgrade to a very nice room with balcony (where we were able to watch Northern Lights from bed!). This was already at the beginning of the stay very attentive from the hosts. The whole living area is really nice, the kitchen is quite big and offers everything we needed. We were also able to use the sauna, which was really nice :) We can just imagine that staying here in summer would be magnifique as well! Thanks a lot for a lovely time!
