The hotel was fantastic. Location right on the lake with great views, very very friendly staff and good clean rooms. We were late one morning to breakfast (which is also a huge great buffet) and they let us get a good breakfast anyway. Everyone there is super friendly. Parking is right out the door so that is very easy too. Great value and experience for our family.

- room with kitchen is good
- the toilet is quite far from our room but they are clean and very warm (with heater).
- many laundry spot and washing machines
- beautiful garden around the room.
Alpine View Motel was one of the first motels built in Te Anau approximately 50 years ago and was constructed out of stone. It features accommodations with mountain views.

The location was quiet, just off the main street. It was a great home place for exploration of Milford Sound and Lake Te Anau. The owners were great and friendly. There was also an area to rinse off the dusty car

People often only go to Te Anau just to take the Milford Sound tour. There is so much for to see and do! It really is a place to just relax.
Whether it's late night strolls to the souvenir stores or restaurants or taking walks along the amazing lake views that aren't crowded by other people.
If you ever want to try out cycling, Te Anau is the place to do it. Not much traffic and the price for bike hire is cheaper than Queenstown.
If you're in on a Sunday, go visit The Life Church that. A loving warm and friendly community over there.
When it comes to food, I found food shopping, Chinese food and other restaurant prices were cheaper than Queenstown. Oh, and souvenirs are also cheaper here too.

I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)

This is a nice location which has everything.
This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel
The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service.
A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. The lake and mountains are beautiful and eat at the Ranch, best place we ate on both islands.

Itis a very pretty town.
Itis a very pretty town. It is a perfect place to stay if you are planning to go to Milford Sound. The drive to Queenstown is also spectacular. The are a lot of options for price in accommodation and meals.
The place is fine, a typical decent kiwi motel. The room maybe wasn't quite as clean as my wife would like, but it was not horrible either (she's picky). Strangely, the bathroom has been recently updated with a very modern motif, while the rest of the unit looks average, definitely not updated. Kitchenette was fine with a double stovetop, and the other kitchen aspects were good. Location was fine also, but then Te Anau is pretty small! Good value for money given it was the busy season there. All-in-all, about a B, maybe a B+.
Location was good, then again Te Anau is a very small town. There are many different facilities for guests esp kids. There are two other campgrounds nearby which we saw with better facilities. We got a corner self contained unit which was great with privacy in a crowded place. Dedicated parking which is good. Receptionist who checked us in was very pleasant with her little assistant.
The very cute resident cat was friendlier than the Easter weekend receptionist.
Just 10 minutes by car out of Te Anau, this lodge is a little slice of heaven! From your very own cabin - which has everything in it (including space) that you need to lay your weary head for the night - the views over the mountains are stunning! Then just trot up the slope to the main building where you will find the best equipped kitchen in NZ and a lovely lounge to dine/relax/read/chat/play in! What a find - and excellent value for money!
The location was fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our Parkview motel stay was great value for money and I can't fault the experience. The holiday park itself is beautifully whimsical. It felt completely immersed in the Te Anau environment and landscape, slightly detached from the centre - still walking distance - but in all the best ways!
Well appointed and very comfortable. Lovely little touches to make your stay special which we really appreciated. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone at Lakefront Lodge. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend to anyone lucky enough to be heading to Te Anau for a wee holiday!
I had a fantastic stay at Luxmore, a few minutes out of Te Anau only. The small cabin was in pristine condition in a quiet area as well (behind someone’s property). I would highly recommend for solo or couples looking for a peaceful place to stay.
For using shared facilities it was great. Everything very clean and well maintained. Te Anau was heavily booked and we were happy to have our own space. The view out our back window of the grazing sheep and mountains. Easy check in and out.
Fresh, clean and nicely set up. After a disastrous night at another nearby bed and breakfast, Red Tussock was a lovely respite. The manager, Robin, greeted us warmly and was informative. We liked the spaciousness and newness of the lodge.
After staying in some cheaper places the old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind as this Motel was so clean and ground immaculately kept with outstanding views of the lake, we all agreed we would be returning here.
Red Tussock Motel was top class , we were in room 14 in the newer block and the facilities were world class , we would stay again if in Te Anau . Great kitchenette where nothing was missing to make a meal for the family .
Te Anau town is a fantastic location. The motel is a short walk to the waterfront and town. The motel is well run and excellent value (it has all the facilities you get in a hotel at half the price).
This motel place is very clean and well maintained, sits at the centre of Te Anau town. Reception lady is very warm and helpful, gave me a good time plan for the trip to Milford Sound.
The rooms were comfortable, except for the usual complaint of bedding being over warm, with no in between option.
Location was great and an easy walk into Te Anau.
