I love everything about this property! It’s one of my favorite hotels in Portugal by far. A true slice of heaven. I almost don’t want to give it a good rating because selfishly want to keep it my little secret but it’s too good to not share. I will definitely be back here one day and I look forward to the day.

The city is compact, clean and pretty. It has many interesting shops and galleries. It is easy to move around, no hills. The seafront is delightful and there is always something happening, river traffic etc. The restaurants and cafes are friendly and the food excellent. Look for the black cat on the roof of the Information centre in the square. There are many trips into the interior and on the sea, also horse riding and a trip to Troia, its peninsular with great marina restaurants. Take the catamaran. The market is superb, everything clean and fresh and so much choice.
National Park on your doorstep, which means some tough hikes. Great beaches in the National Park or a short, convenient ferry-ride away on the Troia Peninsula. If you have a car, you can take the ferry to Cais Sul on Troia and visit the exclusive resort of Comporta at the southern base of the Peninsula. From Setubal, you can even head north into Lisbon for a fancier restaurant or a more lively night out.
Setúbal is an interesting place to visit and offers a variety of cultural markers from natural settings: beaches, the estuary, the surrounding hills to food and wine, monuments and a long and distinguished history. Not big but neither small either. The city is undergoing a slow transformation and you can see many vestiges of the past in buildings, customs, bars and restaurants, the amazing mercado do livramento blending in well with a new, more modern infrastructure and slow but steady renovation of the old housing districts. Well worth the visit!
I am Portuguese so I knew where to go. We went to eat fish (recommend Leo, Pinga amor and Casa Santiago) and go to the beach as stop on our road trip (Porto-Faro) The best beaches are in Portinho da arrabida (Galapinhos) We had a car so was easy to go to big supermarkets but in Setubal you have everything within walking distance.
A beautiful historical city dating back to Roman times and not usually on the tourist map - big mistake! The architecture is amazing, the people are so friendly and helpful, the food (especially the fish and seafood) is first class and very reasonably priced. It's very easy to get around the historical centre, some of which is pedestrianised, and all very flat - except the walk to the Castle (but you can drive) and the views from here are amazing. The Mercado Livramento is probably the best in the whole of Portugal, the Convent of Jesus is stunning, the parks are beautifully maintained, the museums are well-presented and maintained, and strolling down the middle of Avenida Luisa Todi with its trees provides welcome shade from the sun. Praca Bocage has many bars/cafes around the outside and a great place to enjoy a drink or a meal and watch the world go by. Choco Frito (fried cuttlefish) is on every menu and a local speciality so you have to try it at least once. And of course, the most famous wine of the region is Moscatel de Setubal - something we've had many times (usually with a coffee and pastel de nata) - but here it is served chilled and is delicious. It's best to make reservations for lunch/dinner where you can, but if not either arrive as soon as service starts (around midday or 7pm) or be prepared to wait. If you're in the area, add it to your visit list. You can see pretty much everything of interest in a day but a 2 or 3 night break is perfect.
As a town it does not have much to offer apart from It’s proximity to the Arrabida national park and marine reserve, very good fish restaurants and an excellent tapas restaurant next door to our hotel called Botanica which served fabulous food by very efficient and friendly staff. We took a boat excursion to see dolphins and cruise the marine reserve which is absolutely stunning and well worth visiting. Also drove through Arrabida park and hiked to some of the beaches which were picturesque but packed.
Setúbal
The Boutique flair is definitely lovely and the hotels interior in general. Staff was also very friendly and you even receive a little goodbye present. Breakfast is served at a separate Cafe downstairs and you get a cold drink, a warm drink, chocie of eggs, a sweet or savoury selection and fruits or yogurt. The hotel is conveniently placed outside Setubal. Our room was exactly as we expected from an Ibis hotel. Every needed thing was there, clean and organized. I used the hotel for an overnight stay and I did not use the swimming pool, but it looked very well. The breakfast was buffet exceeding what you may expect for a hotel of this level. And the people at the reception desk were very polite and extremely helpful.
The staff were amazing! They could not have been more professional and friendly. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The hotel was nestled among aged vines and it was a spectacular vista for sitting on the porch enjoying some local wine. The onsite restaurant was fabulous and the menu represented some modern interpretations of classic Portuguese food. I should have stayed longer.

The apartment was delightful. The lovely old building was charming with beautiful period features. The bathrooms were so spacious and cleverly had two doors separating bath/shower and loo from the sink. Fantastic position for traveling to beautiful beaches. Setubal is also delightful with excellent restaurants. Helena was very helpful and welcoming.
Free parking area in front of the hotel. The location is fine (5-10 minute walk to the center). Beaches accessible by car or by a special public bus (cheap ticket - less than EUR 1 I think). Breakfast was good - the lady in the kitchen is very nice and sings which makes the morning somehow happier :-)
Breakfast was delicious. Plenty of choice. COVID precautions outstanding throughout the hotel, especially at breakfast. The desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, gave great suggestions. Parking right outside the hotel. Walking distance to shops, market and restaurants.

Nice and Small hotel. Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable bed right in the heart of the city center. The room coul be bigger but not that important. Definitely value for the money.
Clean and comfortable room. Hotel staff attended to my request to stay at a higher floor, no questions asked. Continental breakfast with good range of choice.

Setúbal
Otherwise, everything. The hosts are an absolute dream, for starters. The location is remote enough to be quiet and mostly surrounded by empty fields but not remote enough that you can't go out to explore the area (Setúbal is around 15 minutes away by car). The bubble is amazing, very out of the box and the bed is very confortable. AC allows you to sleep in without overheating from the sun but do take an eye mask if your sleep is bothered by natural light. Small pool with a lot of lounge space for an afternoon on the sun, and of course a very warm and bubbly private jacuzzi on each deck, which is amazing under the stars. Everything is spotless and the cleaning is immaculate. Shower utilities, bath robes and towels for pool are provided. Breakfast at around 9am with eggs, cheeses, bread, yogurt, fruit, fresh orange juice and coffee, probably other options if you ask in advance. We took a couple snacks from home to enjoy late at night as there are no markets/shops on the immediate surroundings. My only regret is that I didn't pet Elizabetha, the cat!
Setúbal
The beautiful location, so close to the city and so far from it at the same time. The beatiful seaview and the nature surrounding. The acommodation unit is perfectly embraced by the the sea and nature. The staff was always ready to support, kind and with an incredible "family touch". Beautiful!
