Featuring a private chapel, this refurbished 18th-century manor house offers air-conditioned rooms with a balcony. Its landscaped garden has a pool and offers panoramic views of Vila Real. Breakfast was beautifully laid and there was heaps of choice. The first morning we we’re the only ones eating but hotel didn’t skimp.
Providing garden views, Borralha Hotel, Restaurante & Spa in Vila Real provides accommodations, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a bar, a shared lounge and a terrace. Free WiFi is provided.... The staff were exceptional, particularly the outstanding way that the chefs came out to our table to see how they could meet our dietary requirements. We planned to stay 1 night but spent 3 here and we could have stayed longer if our programme had allowed it.
Located 5 miles from Mateus Palace, Quinta da Corujeira offers a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge and air-conditioned accommodations with a patio and free WiFi. Everything about the place was simply perfect, stunning views, mega clean, spotless and extremely comfortable bed and a lot of attention to detail. The hosts were extremely nice and friendly.
Located in Vila Real, 3.1 miles from Mateus Palace, Douro Village features a bar, a shared lounge and a garden, as well as free WiFi. Great Host. Always available, what ever the need. Great place. All the facilities where top. Rooms, Living room, kitchen.
Vila Real is at the top of the mountains in the Douro Region. It has extremely beautiful views, the city is nice and it has a lot of nature around it. You have many restaurants with typical food that are cheap. If you like eating, wine and mountains it's a perfect stay.
Other than a nice central church (Sé) and half a dozen historical buildings which can be seen in a couple of hours, Vila Real is one of the least interesting cities in Portugal, with a very ugly and disordinate built environment. Most buildings from the 70's and 80's with poor design. The 'must see' item is by far the Palácio MATEUS on the outskirts of the city (in Mateus on the South entrance to Vila Real), an architectural masterpiece and an iconic place full of history and a beatiful setting.
A very interesting and quirky city, lots of character and so many places to explore, an unhurried place, not many tourists , still undiscovered,Great local food and the local market is worth a visit.Lots of lanes and the shopping is fantastic, plenty of little churches, we where surprised . Highly recommend this out of the way place in Northern Portugal.
One of Portugal's nicest regions, close to the fantastic Douro Valley and thus to lots of interesting wineries, but also far enough away from that valley so as to have good road connections (the Douro Valley is all winding secondary or tertiary roads, and it takes forever to drive any given distance). Finally, super-close to the charming Mateus Palace.
Vila Real, Northern Portugal. Many beautiful Baroque style buildings in the centre. Too bad they have built some common modern buildings also but the centre plaza is all historical on one side. People were very friendly. They mostly didn't speak English but it was no problem. The city is in the heart of the Douro wine valley upper region (their river Corgo is a tributary of the Douro) with many hills covered in vineyards and village which are beautiful to travel through.
I loved that the apartment we chose was so lovingly decorated and anticipated all our needs as a travelling couple. We liked Vila Real very much as it is a clean, easily walkable town. Not too intimidating to get around. The people we met were very helpful when trying to interpret what we were saying in English. A good hub for daily trips. We would return!
This was by far the most fantastic house I have stayed in Portugal. It had such a cute vibe to it. The decoration, the cleanliness and warming appearance made our trip so much better. The owner of this beautiful house was extremely welcoming and very kind to me and my family and she made us feel so special. Thank you Eva for recommending us great places to eat out and local attractions to visit. Location is quiet and so peaceful. Loved everything about this trip. We will definitely want to come back some day soooon!!!! 🤗
Vila Real Loft 360 is a wonderful place to stay in Vila Real. The place is immaculately clean. Big and roomy and comfortable! It has a beautiful patio to sit outside, enjoy a glass of wine, relax and enjoy life. Some of the patio is in shade and some in sun so there are outside choices. The owner checked us in and was so friendly, giving us great sight seeing and eating suggestions. He also gave great advice on ways to tour the Douro Valley. I would highly recommend this place and will myself return in the future.
Beautiful old historic house, very nice decoration, my room was very spacious decorated with carefully good taste, a large living room with nice furniture and comfortable couches and a lovely breakfast room. The owner was very friendly and proactive and provided me with valuable and interesting information about Vila Real and the whole Douro Valley. She also informed me about a classic music concert which I attended last night at the Chapel of the Palácio de Mateus about 1 km away!
The town of Vila Real was not worth visiting but the surrounding sites are incredible we used it as a hub to see other places. Casa Agricole is very special and you do not even feel like you are in a city. It is an enclave of several beautiful buildings surrounded by well maintained gardens.
Amazing place to enjoy Vila Real side of Gerês. The pool and the view were very good and the location was great to visit Cascata do Taihiti, Fabril, Poço verde, etc. It also has a good restaurant where you can enjoy good Portuguese wines and food. We will be back soon for sure.
It was nice that the breakfast was included even though the room was quite cheap. There are special parking places for the hotel guests right next to the reception. Everything was very clean and the check in was flexible and available until late in the evening.
The hotel is very well run and the staff is very helpful. The room is comfortable as is the bed. There is parking on site and the hotel is easy to find. The location iis convenient to the Town and to the Autovias.
The staff was really kind and respectful but the room was not so good. It was too small there were some shortages which are necessary for any hotel. For example there was no hand-washing liquid, no sandals etc.
The location of the hotel is near the center of the city. It is within walking distance of the main attractions. The hotel is comfortable , clean and relatively modern.
Modern boutique hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Terrific swimming pool. Wonderful location for exploring the area but a little isolated.
The room was really clean, the hoster was very friedly and helpful. The room is situated in the center of Vila Real. Higly recommended
The view to Marão mountain, the infinite pool and the hosts, Eugenia and António. Nearby Régua and VIla Real. (10 min drive)
I HAD BREAKFAST OUTSIDE THE HOTEL.
Breakfast was beautifully laid and there was heaps of choice. The first morning we we’re the only ones eating but hotel didn’t skimp.
very nice host, warmy, clean and beautiful place with a view. i would like to stay there once again. thank you.
