Port Clinton is the kind of Lake Town you are hoping for...
Port Clinton is the kind of Lake Town you are hoping for with a young family. The atmosphere was relaxed, and people were friendly. There is a great playground for the kids near City Beach and plenty of restaurants to choose from. City layout isn't very complicated and most if not everything to do in the town is always just 5-10 minutes from everything else. Lake Erie is a great body of water and pretty clean to boot. We went the weekend before Labor Day and there were a couple of nights where live music was being played during a pub-crawl sort of deal. We like the Port Clinton area, close to Island hopping, restaurants and beaches. Sad to see the decline in the downtown stores, some only open Thursday-Saturday, did not get to shop. Hope the hotel revives the bar and restaurant.Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0

Port Clinton is an excellent 'summer visit' - plenty to do in-town, and easy access to ferries taking you to the Lake Erie Islands of Put-In-Bay and Kelleys. Clinton House is recommended for food and drink, and, if you time it right, entertainment!Guest review byJohnUnited States - 8.0

I would stay at this hotel again because it was much cheaper than the other hotel rooms it was right across from the lake so I was able to just drive down to the lighthouse in the morning and have my coffee the beds were very comfortable and clean the only thing I did not like was the bathroom was not clean up to my standards there was lots of hair and lots of pubic hair all over the floor and sink and toilet so it was mostly on the floor but I just so therefore I did not shower in that bathroom but other than that that's my only complaint is that the bathroom was not clean enough for me but for the money I wasn't expecting a five-star room so it was okay for me for one night it was myself and a male friend so it was fine for us but obviously for someone that may have had children or a baby this would not have worked for themGuest review byGarrett - 10.0
Plenty to do in Port Clinton and nearby towns like...
Plenty to do in Port Clinton and nearby towns like Marblehead, Catawba and the Islands. PC beach isn't what it used to be. East Harbor is the better option in the area. Downtown PC has live music all summer long at several establishments within walking distance of each other, also the Crow's Nest has weekend entertainment and ample outdoor seating with a view. There are several fishing spots, ice cream, candy and popcorn places for the kids along with the African Safari and Monsoon Lagoon. Twin Oast Winery is beautiful; Jim's taxidermy has amazing animals to check out and his work is phenomenal. It’s off season there, most things were still closed, which I knew before going and I like it that way. It gives you a chance to check out things without all of the crowds. It is a nice area with all sorts of things to do, if you like the quieter scene just head east, if you enjoy eagles there are many.
