The idyllic location, absolute silence (except the beautiful bird songs), exceptional hosts (Celia, Christine, Jerry & Peter), eye for detail and the little loving touches, ............ The host went beyond our expectations to keep us happy..We played games and had so much fun to reconnect and make good memories that would last a lifetime.Self catered kitchen appliances was tops,we didn't even have to look for anything.Everything was in there.Comfy bed and decor was top class.Loved the art work and antique furniture in the game and braai facility.Cant wait for my next stay.

A well appointed cottage with all the attention to detail that made for a very comfortable stopover on a journey back to Cape Town. The hosts were warm and welcoming. Communication before and during our stay was excellent as was the recommendation for a place to have dinner.

    We had travelled through Calitzdorp a few times many years ago but this was the first time we stopped and stayed. Calitzdorp is very interesting: it has many wineries, excellent eateries, historical sites, the hot spa isn't too far out of town, and the weather was great - moderate during April.

    Calitzdorp is very conveniently situated for day trips to the scenic passes such as Seweweekspoort Pass, Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort Pass. It is also a stones throw away from Oudshoorn, The Cango Caves and Mossel Bay. Beggars harassing shoppers at the local supermarket made shopping rather unpleasant. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place.

    I've stayed in Calitzdorp and it's surrounds several times...

    I've stayed in Calitzdorp and it's surrounds several times and I love it. If you're a traveler to South Africa, you need to plan to also go over the mountains separating the coastal Western Cape FROM the Klein Karroo. The Western Cape coastal influence is frankly tamer, albeit very beautiful BUT is very reminiscent of parts of Europe. The Klein Karroo is hasher in geography, topography, agriculture and people. It's pure magic AND the people are very friendly and helpful. Go there, it's a good experience.

    Die Bakhius was great for a easy supper. TTT wines and "the liquor that cannot be called Port" were excellent The architecture is interesting. The weather was exceptionally hot and you may, ideally, want to go in autumn or spring, for example, during the Port Festival

    Challenged myself by walking a few miles from Calitzdorp towards Oudtshoorn on the R62 ,enjoying the last of the Autumn sun.Alongside the road lot of cars past me,i didnt care about them. I was surounded by the beautiful landscape of Mountains ,karoo bossies and clear blue sky.Got a few honks from the heavy vehicles passing me by.That encouraged me even more .Made the walk pleasant experience.Few miles from my destination,i got tired and gave in.Got a lift from passing car.My phone was off.Must say pictures could not do justice for this walk. Must experience it your self. My resting place tonight is amazing .....i needed this ,after hectic working long weekend.Favorite place were the Museum.They also have bikes to hire at the Calitzdorp Tourism centre near the garage.Winetesting with the friendly staff

    This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era...

    This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era atmosphere. It's quiet, and all the amenities are closely set among the town centre, making walking around a great way to discover little hidden gems, like the Museum. There are plenty of wine tasting options too, some further away that would need the use of a car. Restaurant options are limited, which is disappointing. I also felt quite safe walking around, which was a great bonus! Go, you'll enjoy it, and two nights is enough!

    Excellent location close to shops and major wine estates. Spacious rooms and well-equipped kitchen, Nespresso machine was a hit. Bottled water, ample coffee, tea and milk supplied, as well as a tin of rusks for early morning coffee.

    Lovely Karoo Farmhouse with authentic living space. Part of a converted barn. Was warm and comfortable with an outside shared undercover patio space. There was also a large firepit area at the back.
