FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Melbourne is a city of character where they are willing to assist the tourist. It is full of culture and the arts and genuine care. Compact with a community feel and a culture of inclusivity. One of the best compact cities I have visited but especially the friendliest by far. Lots of great cafes and the trams are really good.

Melbourne is a great city. Easy to get around CBD on trams.

Melbourne is a great city. Easy to get around CBD on trams. The train loops are excellent to outer suburbs. Easy to get to beaches at St Kilda and Port Melbourne. Shopping is great too. You must visit the Yarra Valley wine region. The countryside is lovely. Also visit The Great Ocean Road and see koala bears and kangaroos. One tip, try not to visit in the Aussie winter (our UK summer) as it does get very cold and stormy some days but some sunny days as well. Best to go in our autumn, spring and winter.

I had built upon my opinion about Aussies based on the behaviour of their cricket team. Travelled to australia with an apprehension of what to expect. To my suprise, the opinion i had formed was completely wrong. The Australian people are wonderful. Very kind , helpful, welcoming and highly disciplined. Getting around melbourne is pretty easy. All u have to do is understand their tram and train network. The travel within CBD on tram is free. But beyond the free tram zone, it costs. One thing i liked was the universal MYKI card, which is a travel card and can be used across various modes of transport in almost whole of australia.

I love the free tram Zone, this allows tourist to explore the city without and difficulties and they don't have to worry about taxis or uber. This gives them a chance to reach most of the places for example from skydeck to waterfront , to the malls, the market. Also not forgetting the aquarium. There are many places to see,l just couldn't get enough.

Nice big city with loads of food to choose from. Beautiful scenery. Melbourne boat cruise was really good to see a lot of the city from the river. Everything Was quite expensive. Easy to get around on trains. Found everyone helpful. Was a lot of homeless people in the streets begging or busking.

The staff were all very warm and approachable. I have received attentive service from Mr Godwill and his team: Catherine, Angelina, Shivani, and the rest. Kudos to them !! The location was awesome, close to the Melbourne city (CBD), QV Market, and 10 minutes walk to Spencer Street Station, where one could go anywhere because of country trains, metro trains etc..... and even Sky Bus to Tullamarine International Airport. Great accommodation and great staff !! :0)
