Owner was friendly and helpful and had switched on the heat before we arrived so the place immediately felt cosy. Loved the decor - very comfortable and the antique furnishings were lovely. The facilities were excellent and would support a longer stay. Brilliant location on the main street of Richmond. Would definitely return for a longer visit if we return to Tasmania.

We loved the location and the house was what we needed for one night. It was easy to find and instructions to enter the house were easy to follow.
Nestled in tranquil surroundings overlooking the historic Richmond bridge, The Sargeants and Armory Cottages were built by convicts in 1823.

Richmond is a beautiful part of Tasmania.
Richmond is a beautiful part of Tasmania. A gorgeous sandstone convict built bridge, colonial buildings, the old Richmond Historic Gaol, the Rivers Arm Hotel. The walk along the river is lovely and lots of happy ducks. Crafty shops. Well worth a visit. Wish I had stayed longer.

For those of us from the big mainland cities, like Sydney and Melbourne, all of Tasmania, is a breath of fresh air. We flew into Hobart early in the morning and went straight to Richmond. Automatic relaxation. All you need to do is walk up and down the main street. There are a coffee, shops, restaurants, bars, antique shops. The opening and closing hours are a little unpredictable and no matter what time of year you will need summer and winter clothes because once the wind comes, it’s cold.

So many beautiful historical buildings, picture perfect postcards everywhere you look! Old Richmond Gaol was an interesting tour too. Easy to walk around town and we had a delicious meal at the Richmond Arms.
I had a wonderful experience at the hotel, enjoying the scenic farm view and the opportunity to feed several friendly sheep. The entrance to the main building was adorned with a profusion of flowers, creating a delightful atmosphere. During the morning, I encountered a elegant white horse, adding to the charm of the countryside setting. If you appreciate a serene country life, this mansion is the ideal choice. We also had the pleasure of tasting fresh apricots and milk, both of which were absolutely delightful.
The historic cottage was a lovely oasis, pretty as a picture, clean and beautiful inside. Everything for a comfortable stay was provided including fresh little vases of flowers. Frome the large windows there were views over the farmland and the location is very handy for sightseeing around Richmond and the Eastern Bays. The wood heater was a real bonus and the cottage stay was a highlight of the trip.
One of the cheapest places to stay in Richmond and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was for the price. David called in advance to let us know our room was ready early and cheerfully greeted us on arrival. It was very clean, warm, quiet and comfortable with a lovely private outside courtyard. Very close and within easy walking distance to everything Richmond has to offer.
Great value for the rate we paid. Really helpful friendly staff. The restaurant meals were well above your average pub standard, and were fairly priced, as were the local Tasmanian wines. Quite location (at night) however, can get very busy during the day. Great historic surroundings including the venue 1827, you must see the oldest convict-built bridge in Australia.
The place is beautifully furnished and well setup with everything and more. The spa is a great addition and a treat in the evening over a cider from the supplied selection in the fridge. The place is close to vineyards and cherry orchards while also walking distance to the Richmond bridge. This was a great place to stay for our last couple of nights in Tasmania.
A beautiful property in the perfect location. The accommodation has a kitchen, living area and separate bedroom - all well appointed with a TV in both the living room and bedroom. Breakfast provisions are generous. Being able to sit in the garden with a view of Richmond Bridge is a real treat. This is the type of accommodation you want everywhere you stay.
This was the best accommodation we stayed in during our trip around Tasmania. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The freshly made bread eggs and ham provided for breakfast was exceptional. The bed was so comfy and the view of the Richmond bridge from the window made it the perfect spot.
The location was wonderful, just a short walk to the center of Richmond.
The accommodation was beautifully appointed with all your needs provided for. The gardens were lovely.
The breakfast was amazing with wonderful homemade pancakes, fresh berries and fruit, yoghurt, toast, butter and jam.
Very clean and cozy. Plenty of utensils, microwave fry pan toaster etc. Bed and pillows just right. walking distant to little village. had a lovely meal at the Richmond hotel. The host is so nice and does everything she can to make your stay as happy as possible
Cute cottage (with an interesting historical backstory), within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do in Richmond. Generous sized breakfast was delicious, and delivered in a basket - a lovely start to our first full day in Tasmania!
Thank you Natasha for a lovely stay in your loft. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable and large. Had everything you would need for a short visit. Very quiet area and only 10 mins by car to Richmond. Hope to come back again. Leanne & Don
The cottage was a beautiful colonial cottage with a fire, electric heater, bedroom, loungeroom, kitchen and laundry. Easy walk to town. Richmond is a nice little town with heaps of history.
