Perhaps one of the most famous locations in the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water is renowned for its pretty waterside views and quaint limestone buildings and bridges over the River Windrush, giving rise to the moniker ‘Little Venice' of the Cotswolds. Step out of Appletree Cottage’s front door, turn left and you are about 100 metres from Paynes Bridge, dated 1776. The village has so much to see and do, for all ages, you hardly need to go further afield during your stay to get a feel for the Cotswolds, from the Cotswold Distillery to the Motor Museum and Birdland. Bourton-on-the-Water will spoil you with its choice of independent shops, pubs, coffee shops and tea rooms. Everything you need is in walking distance of the cottage, so a car is not essential. Appletree Cottage is 90 minutes from London on the M40/A40. By train, it is 1hr25 minutes from London Paddington to Kingham Station (a 15-minute drive). Taxi transfers are available from the station.
