Company info

We purchased the property in 2011 and have renovated many elements of the house and garden. The garden is a work in progress and captures the seasons with color, texture and edible produce. We have painted, refurbished, laid new floors and hung our own work and that of others on the walls. It is a lovely house to live and work in. Moving forward to 2021, we have completed changes to the Calder Suite, that makes it more hospitable for less abled persons, with portable ramp to the front door, open plan shower room for wheelchair access and a level path to the patio at the back complete with 800mm wide doors. Some ability aids available on request, please call to check what we have for your use. Dower House is also where you will find the workshop for the Dower House Tweed Collection. You are welcome to purse and select the hand made products, or order to suit you particular needs.

The Dower House is comfortable home that offers a quiet, welcoming and hospitable space ...and that's all by itself. Here you can relax after your journey, long or short and unwind with afternoon tea, and take in the history and ambiance of this lovely home and setting. Sit in the garden, wander the wildcat trail or just listen to the birds and watch the squirrely play. The house does have history, it was one of the earlier houses built in the village. Some notable characters have stayed here and still the sense of calmness prevails as soon as you walk through the front door.

Neighborhood info

Newtonmore is a great wee highland village with character and charm. The village has tennis courts, bowling greens, golf course and of course a Shinty pitch that has a very active membership. Newtonmore is pretty close to the center of Scotland and so access to the west coast, east coast, north and south for many activities. Mountain biking, family cycling, walking kayaking and canoeing, along with snow sports. Newtonmore is a great village for the less abled with the Wild Cat Trail, Richmond Park and many shops and restaurants with level entry or ramps and street wise drop down kerbs for easy acccess.
