Quaint; we had the penthouse suite which has a huge single room and jacuzzi and small balcony plus in an unusually hot day a ceiling fan which I am not sure all the other rooms have

Very disappointing night at this hotel would avoid at all costs. Stayed in room 1014 and was kept awake by the sound of a waste water pump constantly running. When complaining to staff on checkout I was inform this would be taken care of and an amount would be refund back to my account. This never happened! It’s not about the money I just wanted to have a place to sleep and not be kept awake by the sound of faulty equipment and plumbing.

I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

we were down for a Bridge Congress so not involved with sightseeing.
We walked in to Maindee for a meal on Sat evening, expecting a better selection than we found....but an interesting Caribbean Restaurant ( a bit more like a cafe really) but the food was OK and freshly prepared and the price was reasonable
This is a great family run hotel. Rooms are clean, with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. On arrival the young lady on reception was welcoming, cheerful and chatty. The staff are excellent and made us feel so welcome. After our day out we spent the evening in the hotel bar with the owner and met some of his family which was lovely and we felt we were welcomed with open arms. I will definitely be returning to this hotel the next time I am in Newport. Thank you all :-)
great location for attending a concert in Cardiff, very friendly staff, good facilities for a one night stay. I had booked a double room but asked if I could possibly have twin beds which had been arranged. right by the motorway fly over but didn’t bother us as sound proofing obviously very good. easy and cheap to get Ubers to/from Newport station. would definitely book again if going to an event in Cardiff.
I was attending a conference at the ICC and planned to cycle there each day. The hotel were happy for me to keep my bike in my room so it was secure and arranged for me to have a ground floor room near the door to make that easier to achieve.
The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food at the Hungry Horse was cheap and tasty.
The bed was comfortable and the heating was excellent!
This hotel is in a good location, 5-10 minute walk from the town centre. We had to stand outside and call a number for someone to come check us in (luckily it wasn't raining) then our actual room was 4 doors down the road. The room was a good size, clean and quiet. There was an iron, ironing board and hairdryer which were useful little extras. The shower is amazing, really powerful!
The building was lovely, the staff were attentive and kind, and the food was all so delicious! My husband and I were offered a dinner reservation upon check in and I'm so glad we ate at the restaurant in the hotel. It had a unique concept that was such a delicious meal for two jet-lagged Americans. Breakfast was just as tasty as dinner and the staff were all so friendly.
Me and my Daughter travelled from Liverpool for the Coldplay concert on 7th June and are stay was excellent. The over all location of the hotel was perfect, 2 min walk from an NCP carpark, which was really cheaper for 24 hrs, and a 4 min walk to the train station.
There is also plenty of bars and restaurants within a 2 min walk from the hotel.
To say this house is value for money would be a understatement. Spotlessly clean and a gorgeous spacious house. It worked out cheaper for us and 2 friends than a hotel and we definitely will stay again when we are in the area next.
We were even left some milk and bread etc by the hosts which we weren't expecting.. Thanks for a great stay..
Walls had dirty marks, cracks in the bathroom sink the boulder cushion on the bed had a stain, balcony was covered in algae, breakfast was nothing like it was 10yrs ago , was like a premier Inn, standards have definitely gone down here to point we won't ever come back, better valued hotels with a wow factor on the market now ,
Brilliant fresh new hotel in the centre of Newport just walking into the reception you can tell the hotel has that little something special. Reception staff very welcoming and friendly rooms spacious and comfortable great central location rail and bus station only a couple of minutes walk.
We stayed here for the rugby in Cardiff, ideal location as the train station is only a minute walk from the hotel. In the centre of Newport so really close to all the bars & restaurants. All the staff were very friendly & the rooms were spotless.
The room was clean and tidy, had all the basic amenities you need. Staff were super friendly, which is the boost which makes my review more positive to be honest as the hotel itself i would say wasnt the best from what i expect of an IBIS.
Great location, peaceful setting, helpful staff, good internet, clean rooms. As with most UK hotels, there is no ice maker for guest use, but the bar staff will provide ice in pint glasses.
Having access to basic amenities was important for my family. The separate WC at the ground floor and family shower upstairs was something that was not too coming in Newport.
