Rowrah Hall dates from 1705 and is a beautiful Grade II listed property set within 3 acres of land, with its own spring and beautiful gardens. The property was featured in BBC's Escape to the Country and its location is perfect for those looking to explore the fells, coast and lakes by foot, bike or car. Featuring two lovely holiday cottages and a choice of comfortable en-suite rooms, with free parking. Our aim is to provide a home-from-home, with clean comfortable furnishings, attractive décor, high quality linen, and superfast broadband. It's the little touches that make all the difference. The holiday cottages are beautiful, well-equipped and feature both king-size and super-king beds. We also offer a grand 4-poster room with en-suite facilities for a luxurious romantic retreat, as well as more modest accommodation for travellers on a budget. Drying facilities are available for wet kit, after a day full of adventure. With safe off road parking, fast reliable WiFi and beautiful surroundings, Rowrah Hall is perfectly suited to explorers and business travellers alike.
We can't wait to welcome you to Rowrah Hall so you can experience a real home-from-home. We're a husband and wife duo with a small family and a broad range of interests who love the "good life". We grow much of our own organic fruit and vegetables in the garden, and enjoy free-range eggs from our chickens and ducks, as well as our own honey. We love it here, and are sure you will too. Travellers from every corner of the world are welcome, whether you're travelling for business, working locally, visiting friends, exploring the Lakes, or just passing through. A warm welcome is always guaranteed. We are motorbike and cycle-friendly and welcome motorsport enthusiasts visiting the Cumbria Kart Racing Club - one of the best karting circuits in the UK!
Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, it's the perfect base to explore the most beautiful part - the Western Lakes. The famous fells of Scarfell Pike, Great Gable, Skiddaw and Hellvellyn, along with Ennerdale Lake, Wastwater, Loweswater and Buttermere are all within a 30 minute drive or so. The towns of Whitehaven and Cockermouth are less than 20mins drive, with Keswick just 30mins. For coastal lovers, Whitehaven, Maryport, St Bees and Ravenglass are all within close reach, offering glorious sandy beaches and cliff-top walks. For cyclists, the Coast to Coast Cycle Route and Walking routes are on our doorstep (quite literally, for cyclists). Other nearby attractions include Rowrah Karting Circuit, one of the country's best, and Ennerdale Craft Brewery, both of which are within walking distance. The Brewery also offers tasty afternoon teas and a bistro. The magnificent Lake District Wildlife Park, Lakes Distillery and Lake District Coast Aquarium are also close by, as is sailing and outdoor adventure activities to suit every taste. The popular towns of Ambleside and Windermere (home to Beatrix Potter) are also within striking distance to enjoy a fun day out.
