Great spot, centrally located. Lovely room, skylight in very clean, modern bathroom (upside of being on the top floor - had to climb a few flights of stairs which was fine for me with light bag). Asked and received early check in - thank you. Anne happened to be there and was very friendly and helpful.

Margate is a very tatty and tacky seaside town.

Margate is a very tatty and tacky seaside town. Its centre by the pleasant sandy beach is an eyesore of casinos and abandoned buildings. Judging by the number of police cars on a Friday night it must have more than its fair share of crime. The Turner museum was a disappointment, having only a single Turner painting along with some modern art that was underwhelming. Clearly its heyday was 200 years ago as it is now utterly charmless.

Margate is a great place to visit particularly when the sun shines. There is a range of offerings in terms of hotels, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes as well as places of interest to visit. Like most seaside towns is has suffered from a lack of investment in recent years which is evident in some areas of the town.

Friendly vibe, lots of interesting places to visit and eat at. Visit the Crab museum and the Turner Contemporary gallery- both are free for a donation. Sit and watch the sunsets with a drink. Don't forget to swim in the free seawater Lido.

Never judge a book by the cover.

Never judge a book by the cover. First impressions arriving Friday night was that it looke dirty, neglected and rough. After venturing out down the sea front on the Saturday it still had a grubby and seedy feel. However when we sneaked through the backstreets and squares how different the vibe changed. This place oozes with culture with cool markets, and places to eat. It was a completely different feel to the front. What we liked was it was a haven of independent shops, cafes and businesses and all of them were busy and brimming with life. If only the council could give the front a face lift.

I felt like we saw 2 Margates, the high street and the area we stayed was old, run down and almost derelict. Not at all what we was expecting and we was quite shocked based on reviews of people raving about the area. The second day we went to the Old Town and despite being only a few roads away from the High Street, it was like a different place, nice and trendy coffee shops and shops.

Spacious and tastefully decorated apartment with a well equipped kitchen. Margate Main Sands is a 10 min walk and there is a Tesco just round the corner. Check-in and check-out were easy thanks to the detailed information the host provided. We did enjoy our stay! Ideal for families with children.
