I’ve stayed in several Ryokans in Japan but this one (Ryokan Mugen) is without question, the very best one could imagine! The owner was the most helpful with respect to selecting places to see as the weather was changing, helped us every day with wonderful places to eat (walking distance from the Ryokan), sharing wonderful stories, helped us with shipping suitcases to the next designation rather than trying to manage carrying them our- selves, and, with her husband, the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet!!

Ryokan Mugen far exceeded my expectations. Tome, the owner of the ryokan, went above and beyond to make my stay fun and worthwhile. Sitting at the bar chatting over a glass of premium sake, she helped me plan my remaining week in Japan and made sure I was maximizing my time based on the things I told her I wanted to see and do. Her enthusiasm and warmth made me feel welcome and respected. The ryokan itself was very clean, quiet, and stylish. I slept soundly through the night -- it was the deepest sleep I had during my 9 days in Japan. Tome even sent me off with cough medicine and a note to show the local pharmacy, after I mentioned that I was struggling with a sore throat. Although I only stayed at Mugen for a night, I can't imagine my trip without it.

We loved everything - Tome and her husband were amazing...welcoming & accommodating! The location was in a quiet residential neighborhood, but still walkable to sights and public transit. The ryokan's lovely - a perfect balance of traditional Japanese architecture/decor, modern amenities, and the couple's quirky style. Overall, it was cozy, clean, comfortable, serene, intimate...a truly Japanese experience.

I have never met anyone more nice than the lady owner. She is amazing and very supportive, she will take care of you the moment you enter until the last moment you leave. I have been in 100 hotels, but this Ryokan is my number one. Thank you so much for everything truly, we truly enjoyed our time thanks to you. The rooms are very comfy very spacious, clean and similar to the pictures and it is worth the price.
