Best thing about hotel is that you can ask whatever you want and 99% of your wishes come true.
As European I like some things made differently as they are in Africa but if you ask the hotel staff makes it!
As example I can say they make awsome tuna stakes if you ask them! And they also add rum to your coconut if you ask. So the main tip is - ASK!
Moreover, as experienced travelwr I have been reading reviews about the hotel and two things were very disturbing (a) that the selection of food os not very rich; and (b) that the tides make the sea go away for a far far way.
To tackle that I shall say that (a) food is good and changes everyday, so even on 11 night stay you will have a varios optios to choose from (especialy if you are into sea food); (b) tides are constant but there was no day with out sea at your foot steps to the pool, meaning that some times you have to wait half a day before sea comes back but it eventualy does.

Seashore is a lovely quiet boutique hotel made up of rustic beach bungalows a stone’s throw from the beach and a short walk to the main town. The main strip is plagued by sellers so it was so lovely to come back to the peace and tranquillity of Seashore.

the Hotel is really tiny! (5 rooms total) Which is nice, personnel knows you, knows what you like and you know them as well. Short way to breakfast, to the pool or reception. Staff is extremely friendly, helpful and supporting. If you need something, there is always somebody to help.

I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water.
I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water. The sand was so soft and almost white. I didn't like the hassle on the beach though. It was easier to stay at the hotel to avoid it. But that's not why you visit another country!

Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest.
Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest. That meant fewer people and tranquility which was what I was looking for during that trip. The hotel was also exactly what I need. All the facilities (gym, massage, sports activities) + excellent food at a reasonable cost. And Fatma the day manager was great. A wonderful person and soul

We went to the Zan View Beach Bar most nights for happy hour and dinner. The beach has much more of a relaxed feel than Nungwi, which seemed more like a place for young people to get drunk whereas Kiwengwa was more families and laid-back properties.
Very spacious and stylish room, nice pool with great view with many sun beds available. We liked the garden with lovely plants and of course the bush babies! The hotel has a secluded feeling, away from the busyness Zanzibar sometimes can be. This was our last stop on a two week trip on the island and we very much enjoyed relaxing and winding down at this place. Also very happy with the generous check out time allowing you to still enjoy the facilities and having the time to take a shower before flying home. Thanks Marafiki!
Zan View in my opinion is outstanding, because of its management & staff team, its authentic interior design and cleanliness and its location. In Zanzibar people are super friendly in general, friendliness and service-orientation of the whole team was exceptional and far above expectation (am travelling to Zanzibar since 2008). Located on top of a small hill, with stairways down to Kairo village and the hotels private beach stretch,it is a georgeous combination of hotel privacy and local village.
Our 3 night stay in white dream was perfect. It is a small intimate hotel, beautifully designed and the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. The pool is a big plus as the tide is sometimes capricious. Restaurant was very good and the menu offered various choices, we ended up having all of our meals there. We were not sure about staying in kiwengwa because the beaches are not as dreamy as in Nungwi or Paje but we did not regret for a second our stay in this peaceful haven.
The Melia Zanzibar is a good hotel without direct access to the beach
The staff is perfect.
But we can't consider this a 5 star hotel.
The breakfast is poor.
The is no beach access.
The decoration is old and not appropriate for a 5 star hotel.
We asked an upgrade for the Melia The Level and there you can consider has a 5 star hotel but the food and breakfast once again is too poor for the price.
I would return because of the staff.
It was one of the best experiances in Zanzibar. The hotel is best for tourists who likes “butik” type hotels. Usually we live in a bigger hotels, so after that experience, we felt so much privacy in every area. No need to fight for the places near the pool, in the beach or restaurant.
Very clean rooms.
The kindness staff (all speaking English).
And the food - we really enjoyed it!
best hotel/resort I’ve stayed in, staff soo friendly and professional. they think of everything.
It was summed up by our final night on this Zanzibar trip, we were the last people having dinner at the Jetty restaurant, one of the staff members on the golf buggy knew somehow we were the last and drove to meet us, it saved my wife a long walk in her heels.
I stayed in la base for 5 and the experience has been great. The place is really clean and comfortable. The restaurant is located right in front of the beach so you'll definitely have a relaxing time while enjoying your meal and drinks. Thanks to the hosts Cris and Luca. They were really cool. This place is a must when you're in kiwengwa.
From a service perspective, the staff at Moja Tuku are superb. They went all out to ensure that my family and I were well taken care off.
Meshack, the concierge, assisted us with booking tours and introduced us to Ben, a local tour operator with a heart of Gold. Thanks to Meshack and Ben, we got see and experience the best of Zanzibar.
The location is really nice. Even though the hotel itself is not really at the beach ( they have a beach bar and the hotel is like 100 m further), that beach is the best one we've seen in Zanzibar. The rooms were clean and food was decent. The ac was working fine and water in the shower was hot. Internet was good.
The staff at Cast Away are exceedingly helpful, friendly and accommodating. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and even spoiled. The location is fantastic, right on the beach with a beach bar serving drinks. The facilities were beautiful and comfortable. I would gladly return to this hotel!
It's very nice smaller hotel than BlueBay which makes it more comfortable and quieter. The food is tasty and even there is no huge selection it's good enough. Stuff is professional so it makes your stay very pleasant and relaxing. I think that this is very good choice if you go to visit Zanzibar.
Not sure where to start...OUR STAY WAS MORE THAN AMAZING.. THE BEACH IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WE HAVE SEEN IN ZANZIBAR... WHITE SANDS AMAZING FOOD.. OUTSTANDING BREAKFAST AND WARM HEARTED ATTENTIVE STAFF.. I WILL DEFINETLY BE COMING BACK. THANK U IMARA FOR THIS EXPERIENCE. FOOODIS A MUST.
It was such a wonderful stay of my life, the customer care was top notch. Victor the front office manager makes a lot of difference at Kiwengwa beach.Always available to assist.
Because of such people we cannot think twice but confirm another visit soon.
the excellent location on the beach . all the staff very nice . very good food . nice Zanzibari decoration of the rooms , the restaurant. very good atmosphere . very charming GM Chantal .
simple hôtel , the place to be in Zanzibar!
It's my third spot to stay on my travel route in Zanzibar:
- Amazing Food
- Small Hotel
- Private
- not a lot of traffic on the beach.
- great staff team
- neat and clean rooms
Happy to come back to Z - Lodge
Location was great except
I found Kiwengwa
Beach to be the most polluted beach I have ever stayed on
And was surprised that the resorts make no attempt
To clean debris off the beach. Breakfast was
Good
