One of my favourite cathedrals.
One of my favourite cathedrals. If you want a guided tour, which I recommend, try and have Alan as your guide. He is so very knowledgeable and has a wonderful sense of humour. I tried to book a ticket and/or tour of the castle, but it was closed for private functions, like weddings, for both the days I was in Durham. Early booking is obviously the answer! What a building!
What a building! We don't like being charge to enter God's house so were pleasantly surprised to be asked, with no pressure, for a donation which we were delighted to do. It was certainly the highlight of your short visit to DurhamEricUnited Kingdom
