I was picked up from the airport right on time by one of the hotel staff, and finding them was super easy, even though the airport itself was a bit overwhelming. That pickup honestly made such a difference. There were a bunch of people trying to get me into taxis, but the shuttle person made sure I wasn’t bothered and got me to the hotel with zero stress. I’ve got to say, the shuttle driver was amazing. The streets were super busy, but they handled it all so well that I felt completely safe the entire ride. When I arrived, I was greeted by the manager, Rajendra Bhatta, and the rest of the staff. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. This was my first time in Nepal, so having that warm welcome really meant a lot. Rajendra told me that guests are treated like family here, and I genuinely felt that the whole time. My room was super clean, and they even provided shower sandals, which was a nice touch. The bed was large, clean, and really comfortable. There was an air conditioner that kept the room perfectly cool and cozy, and I was also given two large bottles of water, which I really appreciated after traveling. The complimentary breakfast was incredible, with a full buffet and really great food. I also tried the hotel restaurant, Royal Garden, and wow, the food was next-level. The chefs seriously know what they’re doing. Every meal I had was delicious. The staff gave me lots of helpful info to make my stay easier. Manita, one of the hosts, was especially helpful. She arranged a taxi for me, recommended a super useful app that let me book rides without haggling prices, and really made getting around so much easier. Later in the day, when I had to catch a bus, she let me stay in the hotel lobby and even brought me tea while I waited. That was such a thoughtful gesture. Being in a new city for the first time can feel overwhelming, but I felt completely safe and taken care of here. I’m honestly so glad I chose this hotel.

Hotel Dolmaling was such a nice find, we had originally booked a room for two days at the start of our trip but loved our stay so much that we decided to cancel our other hotel reservation and book with them again on our way back! 10/10 stay, the staff was lovely, they have a lovely restaurant on sight as well so you don’t have to leave the location if you don’t want to. However, if you do decide to venture out, the Boudha stupa area is just a short walk away for shopping and sightseeing. The room itself was clean and included a very comfortable bed, a tv, kettle for coffee or tea in the morning along with an AC. The bathrooms were also very clean and included shampoo, conditioner and soap. Our stay was very peaceful, and we loved every minute of it. Thank you to Hotel Dolmaling and their staff for making our stay in Nepal memorable.

Boudhanath Stupa

This impressive temple is home to one of the world’s largest stupas. The 5th-century Boudhanath stupa soars proudly towards the sky, reaching out from an enormous spherical mandala. Once you’ve looked around, head to one of the surrounding rooftop restaurants for lunch. You’ll get a different perspective on this stunning stupa.

    Well worth a look.

Well worth a look. Amazing place, loads of market stalls, went into a temple, got a monks blessing which was very cool. A short walk to the monastry that takes in orphan boys and saw them playing, so lovely.

    This is the Monkey Temple.

This is the Monkey Temple. So if you don't like monkeys it is not the place for you. I have now been here twice and won't go again. I find the smell of fire/incense and still water not enjoyable and the noise can also overwhelm. I did notice that there is a lot of litter/refuse that could be addressed as the monkeys eat and play with it and it just looks unclean and uncared for and the temple represents such a special place for many.

the Boudhanath stupa and its immediate surroundings are a veritable island of calm and serenity in the noisy chaos which is Kathmandu. mere meters away crazy motorcycle drivers are tearing the alleys honking insanely but in this big calm square redolent with incense, full of prostrating worshippers, happy dogs and pigeones, ringing bells and spinning prayer wheels you are on a different planet and you'll do wisely to stay, join the crowds in their clockwise tread and mumble with them: om manni padme hum.

One of the most pleasant, animated, place to go, really amazing, lots of people making "koras" (walking in circle, clockwise, a must, around the stupa). Sometimes masked dancers will perform around the Stupa, and regular "pooja" (celebration and offerings) around the Stupa. Very close to Lotus Garden Cloud 9 hotel, easy to walk to the Stupa from there. Lots of stores and shops (maybe a bit more expensive than in "typical" Kathmandu... go where the Nepalis shop! Buddhanath is also a World Heritage site, so... a must see, you will not forget your visit there, biggest Stupa in Nepal, impressing for sure!

The young people working here are fantastic, very service oriented, caring, helpful and friendly. This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in my four trips to Nepal. It’s also great that it’s a six minute walk to the Boudhanath Stupa. The food was delicious, the rooms clean and the shower was hot (in the afternoon. I did not try it in the morning.)

Location was great: walkable to the Boudhanath Stupa, restaurants, and shops. Love that hotel proceeds support a monastery. The hotel invites the local neighborhood to use their pool, which means it's a bit crowded on the weekends, but I like that the hotel is community minded.
