We liked our stay a lot. The pool was nice with a great look over Hanoi, the rooms were lovely, the bed was comfortable, the AC worked wonders, the rooftop bar was quite nice with entertainment some of the days, the staff was extremely helpful and even helped us with an issue we had with our next booked hotel.

An unforgettable stay! Everything was perfect during my time at Salute Hotel. The location is amazing — close to all the key attractions in Hanoi, yet nestled in a quiet and peaceful street for a good rest. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of variety to start the day right. But what truly makes this place special is the staff — so kind, always smiling, and truly helpful with everything. I also booked my Ninh Binh tour directly through the hotel, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my trip! I’ll miss Vietnam so much — and this hotel played a big part in making it such a wonderful memory. Highly recommended!

I have stayed in the hotel for quite some time. I have tried many different rooms and most were good or great. First lets talk about the staff I interacted most with: Thao and Hien both are very good at their job and make the guests feel welcome. Hien is very perceptive, listens to the concerns of the guests attentively and does her best to address them. She also goes out of her way to anticipate wishes of the guests preemptively and helping them. Thao is the travel planner, she has a vast knowledge of possible places to visit in Nordvietnam and in Hanoi anything I booked at the hotel worked well and Thao does her best to accommodate the travel plans with reservations at the hotel. So you can expect a good service. That being said, booking in the hotel are a bit more expensive compared to other sources of booking. It also comes with a lot of advantages. If this price increase is worth the time and hassle you save, you need to decide on your own. Either way, both staff members are great and did their best to make my stay as pleasant as possible. The rest of the Staff I interacted with less, but it was always plesant. For example Minh was helpful and concerned about my comfort. The Wifi works most of the time and is one of the better ones I found in a Vietnam hotel, however it’s not great, expect to watch twitch in a stable 480p. Beds are comfy and the surroundings are usually decently quiet compared to other hotels in Vietnam. The location is great, a short walk can bring you to most of the interesting locations in Hanoi, both sides of the hotel has convenience stores nearby.

    Walked very long distances in extreme heat and humidity to get to the Mausoleum. Tips: After the Mausoleum, take the option to visit the palace first before the museum. If you try do it the other way around you cannot get back to see the palace! Tip: Don't take the Bus Tour @ Dong 450,000. Just choose the places on the tour that you really want to visit and take a Grab to each of those places. Save a heap!

    This is one of those rare places where Vietnam tries to promote their legacy to foreigners by only making foreigners pay a rather hefty entrance fee. Entrance for Vietnamese is free. They double down on the entrance fee because you have to pay both for the Ho Chi Minh living quarters and the mausoleum. What a way to promote your legacy! The Maison Centrale prison museum also shows the legacy of Vietnam for the same price. You might as well skip the Ho Chi Minh museum and go to the Maison Centrale museum.

    Another must-visit to have on your list. The technology used to preserve his remains is astonishing. Go there and see for yourself! Pro tips: no head gear, no photography equipment, phones on silent and in your pocket/bag, keep your hands out of your pockets and maintain respectful silence during your visit to the inner sanctum.

    Only open early morning to mid-day - do this as your first walk, on the way I crossed train street which was a great stop - check train times and you may be lucky to time it for early afternoon after your trip to the mausoleum for a drink/snack and train spotting experience

    Pure propaganda!

    Pure propaganda! It appears that there are paid “mourners” that keep the lines going. A huge amount of propaganda is spewed about HCM while the residents of Hanoi suffer from extreme poverty and miserable working conditions.

    We had such a lovely experience at The Sono Hanoi hotel. All staff were professional, friendly, helpful and like family. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is so conveniently located. You can walk to everywhere: Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, dong xuan market, hoan kiem lake, night market. Lee helped us to arrange a day tour to halong bay and Trang An. The trip was very nice.

    The bathroom is equipped with hot and cold water, there are free snacks in the lobby. The location is convenient for traveling to Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake and especially near Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. You can rest assured to leave your belongings after checking out. The staff is extremely friendly and enthusiastic. I went with a large family so there was quite a lot of luggage. The staff helped carry the luggage to the car door^^(I especially remember the names Thuy and Van)
