- From $396.12 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 218 reviewsBeautiful boutique tiny hotel on a Caribbean island. Simple but very elegant design. Great care put into everything. Excellent staff. Snorkeling was great. Kayaks available. Boat trips to nearby islands. Private beautiful beach as well as the deck in the back where there is a beautiful mangrove lagoon where you can see the sunsets and swim with fluorescent plankton if the moonlight isn’t too strong. Excellent breakfasts as were other meals. Would really love to come back one day!Guest review byRubi VRomania

A vibrant town that parties til late.
A vibrant town that parties til late. Lots of shops and restaurants. 3 days was the right amount of time. Prices can be high in shops and restaurants as it’s a popular cruise stop. Everyone is hustling selling stuff inc raps! But just be sensible and you should enjoy your time. Free walking tour was great and got to see more than just the old town with guide Legacy from n experience via guru walks.Guest review byClaireUnited Kingdom - 4.0
You can’t beat the price & the beach is beautiful.
You can’t beat the price & the beach is beautiful. The people were great & friendly. However I would bring mosquito spray & ear plugs bc if you get the room next to a generator it will drive you crazy. The best room is with the balcony so you could enjoy the sound of the waves & beautiful view, it’s definitely worth the extra money. Food & drinks were good. Take the taxi & boat suggested.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
The staff, location and room were excellent.
The staff, location and room were excellent. Staff went out of the way to help and guide. We booked a car through the hotel for pickup and drop off to Cartagena and the car service (Carlos the driver was awesome and very helpful and punctual). We had a medical emergency and the staff were super helpful to guide and help arrange transportation to the nearest city. Highly recommend. Water pressure at the hotel at times can be an issue (beyond the control of the property), which is to be expected. The staff informed us of low water pressure times and were very helpful in providing a bucket to store water for shower if needed during low pressure times.Guest review byAustinUnited States - 8.0

Keep in mind that not all hotels have beaches, even though they do have access to the sea. Also remember that walking from one place of the island to another is not possible due to the mangrove, so most of the time you will need to take a boat, which usually is provided by the hotel at a cost. This is a place to relax under the sun, swim in the sea, eat delicious food, and do some low intensity activities like paddle board or snorkeling. It is not a place to explore the surroundings, have long hikes, or partyGuest review byCarlosSpain - 10.0
Surprisingly interesting.
Surprisingly interesting. We took a flora and fauna boat tour which was lovely. Weekends come alive with visitors, week days are quiet. Café 1700 is the best food in town, you can sit in a rocking chair under a fan watching the river flowers by and birds and iguanas playing.Guest review byNarelleAustralia - 2.0

Hotels are pretty isolated, so you may not go to another restaurant in case you don't like yours. The beach on the 'more popular' part are facing the industry harbour and the rafinery, which impede the experience.Guest review bypetzi1Germany - 8.0
Nice island, no mass tourisme.
Nice island, no mass tourisme. However there is dirty everywhere, there is no environmental respect or educaiton around the locals and some tourists. Pieces of garbage all over when going for a walk in the island. A fully respectful hotel I recommend : Ecohouse ! The worst one in terms of service : WIJI, don't go there, over expensive and the rudest staff and worst service I've ever had.Guest review byFrancolaFrance - 10.0
The city and their people are wonderful.
The city and their people are wonderful. Very interesting historical places and places to have fun. Driving in the city is not as bad as in Medellin, motorcycles are crazy and it seems like they don’t respect the traffic regulations. Cartagena was different.Guest review byHectorUnited States - 10.0

Baru is not a lonely remote place where you will enjoy peace and quiet. Hotels and lodges are literally next to each other. There are many people. When swimming, be careful of boats and jet skis that drive here and there very close to the shore. But the sun and the sea make all that unimportant. There are also various excursion options.Guest review byYaanisLatvia - 8.0

great little hotels and restaurants in the area but too many hawkers selling you stuff. Be careful with your personal items. Bring your own towels. Sunset beach restaurant had nice cabana types to relax and consume.Guest review byIvanUnited States
