Love the Castle and the Priors. The room no. 6 in the hotel did not have a fridge and we would have appreciated to have a fridge. If we plan to come back we would stay at the Castle or at the Priors. We found that the price for the hotel was too expensive compared to the one at the Castle. For the same, the room at the Castle was much better. But that said, we enjouée a lot our stay. Personnel was great.

Quaint, traditional, medieval town with heaps of history.

Quaint, traditional, medieval town with heaps of history. Some of the walls are open for public access with stunning views over harbour/Snowdonia . Narrow one-way roads around the town Not too busy whilst we were there but get's busy in high-season. Lots of places to eat and drink. Erskine Arms and Castle hotel for Sunday Roast are a must. Lots of local shops and bakers. Definitely worth a visit for the day.

We have been regular visitirs to Betws for several years in early January and stayed in the hotels and rented cottages, along with driving our campervan and staying on the campsite. It is a beautiful place to say but is looking tired. Every year shops state they are holding closing down sales that never happen, they are always there the following year. Several shops were closed this year so sadly thinking of looking elsewhere next January..

You can never have too long in Llanberis area!

You can never have too long in Llanberis area! The mountains & lakes are stunning, and there is so much else to explore too. Snowdonia has a magical quality to it that makes it so special. Llanberis is also a great base from which to explore outlying places e.g. during my trip, as well as completing my main goals of climbing Snowdon and Tryfan, I took daytrips from Llanberis to Caernarfon and Anglesey on one day and Llandudno & Conwy on the other, visiting castles, National Trust properties and beaches on teh way. The various driving routes to and from these places back to Llanberis were a joy in themselves. The nearby Pen-y-Gwryd hotel is so interesting, steeped in mountaineering / Everest history - although it was lovely to have the place almost to myself to look around, it is a shame it is not promoted a bit more as a place to visit for a cup of tea / place to stay.

Barmouth is a small holiday town.

Barmouth is a small holiday town. The folks are so friendly there. Beautiful beach, and sights. The shops are quaint and and the staff are so polite always ready to have a chat. It’s a great place for kiddies in the summertime. Got it’s own fairground, donkey rides. The Bed & breakfasts are great and good value for money. Just a really chilled out place.

With several heritage railways in close proximity and access by train, Porthmadog should be a must on any Train enthusiast ‘List of places to go’. My son has been talking about the FFestiniog railway (Rheilffyrdd FFestiniog ac Eryri) for many years. We were finally able to make the trek and we were excited to see it all. We could have spent 3-4 days going on the different excursions. Plan on getting into the Boston Lodge railway works for a tour there also.
