- From $204.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 10,236 reviewsWe have never had such a warm welcome at a hotel. What a friendly and accommodating staff - from the front desk to management to wait staff to the porter to housekeeping. Everyone was just lovely and quite responsive. We arrived by bicycle after 28 days of touring Scotland. This was the perfect place to rest and recover for two days before sailing home. Our room was spacious, the spa was relaxing, and our bike was stored in a secure, indoor location. We opted for half-board and thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The charm of this hotel has been retained while updates have made the facilities more modern.Guest review byCindyGermany

The hotel staff was extremely caring making everybody happy. Particularly outstanding was Victoria at the front desk who helped us with numerous inquiries, and went out of her way to help my partner with exploring a place for a hair cut/ hair coloring needed before an upcoming wedding. Excellent stay.Guest review byStephanCanada

Great things to see in the city, and close to Hadrians Wall and Roman towns by train and bus. Discovery museum is a must. And food!! Some of the best food we've eaten at restaurants and wine bars, and it was Restaurant Week - aim for that if you can!Guest review byLEIGHTONUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Nice hotel right on the coast at Tynemouth, near Cullercoats. A short walk to the lovely village at Tynemouth and alternatively in the other direction to Whitley Bay. Good restaurant and breakfast served daily sets you up for the day. Good choice if this is the area you seek to visit.Guest review bySandraUnited States - 8.0
We knew abought Houghton le Spring already.
We knew abought Houghton le Spring already. We needed to be in Stanley, Durham, and East & West Rainton so hotel was ideally situated. We used the in-house Restaurants & Bar on 3 nights and the Italian Restaurant across the road ! night.. There are bus routes outside the Hotel - I believe maximum fare of £2.00.Guest review byVictorUnited Kingdom - 2.0
The people were lovely and friendly.
The people were lovely and friendly. But, this is not and upmarket place to stay. It was full of drunks and druggies (even the taxi driver and the electrician said this) It was just like some of the worst council estates we have here in the UK. I didn't go out at night with the dog because of this. There were quite a few pit bulls around, including the one upstairs. The property itself was ok and comfortable, but left a lot to be desired. The cutlery drawer was at ground level, there were slugs on the worktop every other morning and the fridge was awkward to open - you had to shut the kitchen door to get into it! But the owner was helpful and friendly.Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom - 10.0
