Hraunsnef Country Hotel

Hotel in Bifrost

Quietly located in western Iceland’s countryside, this hotel is 1.2 mi from the Grábrók volcano in the Borgarbyggd District. It offers free Wi-Fi, outdoor hot tubs and individually decorated rooms. Our best stay in Iceland, by far. The restaurant was great, hot tub under the northern lights... Bathrobe and flip flops provided for the hot tub. The rooms are compact but comfortable. The pictures on booking don't do justice to this hotel. The only place I would highly recommend in Iceland after staying in 9 different hotels across the country.

Basalt Hotel

Hotel in Borgarnes

Located in Borgarnes, 27 miles from Thingvellir National Park, Basalt Hotel provides accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar. The stay at Basalt hotel was fabulous. The location is great for aurora watching, so quite and remote. The hot tub outside was magical- especially when the northern lights were out and we could observe them from there. The room was super clean. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection. The owner is such a lovely person who even borrowed us slippers and bathrobes for the hot tub. Would definitely recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back.

Hotel Flatey

Hotel in Flatey

Set on Flatey Island in the Breidafjördur Bay, this hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Baldur Ferry Terminal that departs from Stykkishólmur. Flatey Island is one of those places you visit once in a lifetime, if you're lucky. We had the opportunity to visit and we're not dissappointed. The only hotel on the island has a beautiful old world charm to it and the decorating is fitting- as you feel somewhat you are back in time many decades. Upon arriving to the Island hotel staff will greet you to give you directions or even a ride to the hotel (it is about a 10-15 min walk from where the ferry docks). The hallways and rooms are nicely decorated and upkept. The staff called us earlier the same day before our arrival to confirm the number in our party and to be sure they could accommodate our needs. They were very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. We enjoyed a nice dinner in the restaurant and the included breakfast the next morning exceeded our expectations.
