Hotel was very convenient location/stay especially if arriving via Haneda airport as it is located directly across Shinagawa station. Lots of shops and food choices around as it is adjacent to a mall, the station, and there is a nearby supermarket too. The Main tower rooms were clean, spacious enough for our needs, and supplied with amenities. There is a coin laundry room with about 15 washers and dryers at the 9th floor. Very convenient that there are coin lockers and baggage storage counter at the lobby. Yamato luggage forwarding is also available at the 2nd flr of the hotel from 8am to 6pm. Highly recommended hotel in Tokyo.

The hotel was lovely. It had several restaurants and bars which where great and not over priced. They have 2 buses that stop at the hotel and take you to either of the tokyo airports, this costs around £5. The hotel is conveniently placed for Disneyland Tokyo and is much cheaper than the Disney hotels. The hotel also has 2 excellent onsens divided into male and female, as in most onsens the oolicy is to be naked (you get used to it) and the experience is well worth it.

Tokyo was another world entirely, my first day I visited the “acid trip” that is TeamLab Borderless its a truly magical experience that you can just spend hours walking through. Once I opened myself up to using the Tokyo subway system I found getting around really easy, initially it was a daunting thing for me been in a foreign country for the first time but one I got the hang of it I found it much more simple to use then my native subway system with attention to finer details that make the experience feel like more care and consideration has been put into it. I was only in Tokyo a couple of days and didn’t get to tick everything off my boxes, but visiting Shibuya was one of my highlights the life and vibrancy was enthralling. But just walking around and getting lost your surprised at what you find from little tucked away places to eat to beautiful shines and temples mixed in with the modern city is a sight you don’t forget.

The open air museum is simply a heavyweight coming out of the left field. I didn't expect to find that level and quantity of art in a small village in the Japanese alps, no matter how famous a tourist location it is. It is also extremely easy to get there by bus from most villages in the area. The lake, the Kuzuryū shrine Hongū is more than worth a visit and the water torii is simply iconic. If you are into hiking (I am) there are numerous mountain trails in the close vicinity, but beware: climbing on mount Hakone proper is illegal and dangerous as it is an active volcano and toxic exalations can at times be present. Stick to the observation deck and ropeway if you really want to see Mt. Fuji from a vantage point, or just climb one of the surrounding peaks.

The trip was for Disney so we didnt go to other places really. We ate at Red Lobster, I was disappointed because they didnt have Crab Legs! They had a weak shrimp cocktail with uncleaned shrimp and i had to ask them to remove the shrimp shell. We went to a mall and that was ok, tho getting from ground level to the main floor we had to carry our wagon up stairs, there was no escalator from street to first floor, a minor setback. Navigating to the mall calls for walking through a few buildings zig zagging, again a small setback. oh yea and its cold. Overall the trip was a 8/10 next time if we get a slightly bigger hotell it will be 9/10!

Chiba is an amazing city and because Star Wars Celebration 2025 was held there this year, I had to come and visit. The city is only about an hour away from Tokyo and going there from Chiba was easy to do. Locally speaking, Chiba offers many different places to eat (some of the best donuts I've ever had came from a donut shop called Uni Donuts close to the hotel I stayed at) and a cool Anime hobby store.

Kamakura essentially is a part of the loop between Ofuna and Enoshima. People who come to Kamakura either do so for the shrines/temples OR to stay as a starting point to go to Enoshima. We were the latter. Kamakura gives an impression of a slow paced lifestyle with many interesting and unique shops selling a great variety of things. Kamakura itself has a shopping street which can be quite touristy. Otherwise, it's actually a bustling down with people always on the move. Enoden is definitely a must-take ride. Followed by Shonan Monorail which is an "inverted" track type of monorail. Enoshima by itself can be an entire day trip of shopping, visiting shrines and special locations but require quite a bit of leg strength and stamina. Recommend going for Escar for people who can't climb well. Iwaya Caves is good, but the trip back can be challenging. Enoshima Sea Candle is a must; though at times, the outdoor observatory can be closed and the indoor observatory doesn't have any seats - making the visit very short-lived quickly. Best if you arrange a boat ride out via a route near Iwaya Caves. The shopping streets on the mainland is just as interesting with a lot of unique items and food choices. (that's the street between Enoshima causeway and Enoshima Enoden station)

Funabashi is a perfect slice of genuine Japan.

Funabashi is a perfect slice of genuine Japan. The people there were so kind, and it was a perfect place to see what the lives of the Japanese people are really like. It didn't feel sterilized and curated, it felt genuine. I met the most amazing people on earth there, and it was a joy to wander through the narrow streets of Funabashi seeing different aspects of their culture and city. The people there were very kind and helpful, so if I was ever lost or just wanted to talk it was not hard to find someone who would help. The Funabashi Daijingu felt very spiritual to me, and I truly believe it is a holy place. I was awestruck, and was moved to tears. There were lots of places to eat the local dishes, even an Okinawa-style Izakaya which is my favorite place on earth. If you go there tell the bartender Teddy says hi!
