Acapulco is very Mexican, by that I mean that it is very different from Cancun. If you are looking to see an authentic Mexican Beach town, this is the place. People here are resillient, they have endured the economic downturn from the Covid 19 pandemic and a Cat 5 hurricane. As in every place, it has bad areas. The combination of mountains and beach makes Acapulco unique. Loved all the rock formations and the green of the mountains and hills. It is full of history too. Acapulco was the main port for Spanish ships that carried shipments from the Phillipines then taken to Mexico City and Veracruz for the final destination, Spain. The history is in the City's Fort San Diego an pentagon shape fort right by the seawall. You will find lots of vendors with suveniers in every corner and in the local markets.Guest review byrosalba - 6.0
Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money.
Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money. Taxi service is good, but bus schedules are sketchy. If you come to go fishing, you can take a taxi to the Zihuantanejo harbor for 150 pesos. I recommend finding a good taxi driver, as we did, and get his card and use the same driver for all your travel needs. Ixtapa has limited shopping for groceries, but Zihuantanejo has a Sams club and larger grocery stores. The Delfiniti Swim with Dolphins venue has gone downhill and is very expensive. There is limited beach access, but the large hotels now claim their beaches as private. Dining is costly so come prepared! Be prepared for hot temps with lots of humidity! The tourist trap tours offered are also costly.Guest review byGaylen ArthurUnited States - 10.0

Welcoming, friendly, happy supportive community of people-locals, artists, fishermen, shop and restaurant owners, expats. Excellent clean beaches, especially La Madera uncrowded and delicious restaurants, especially on the beaches. Wonderful shopping celebrating the creativity and the diversity of the artistic products produced by the local Mexican people. Walkable. Safe. Shared shuttle & taxi available for longer distances. Drinking water is filtered. Yummy local food. And the sunsets breathtaking, spiritually meditative. Did we find paradise?😎♥️Guest review byMargieCanada - 10.0
Killer spot, just be aware if you're going in the summer.
Killer spot, just be aware if you're going in the summer. Brutally hot. Barely anyway outside. I would recommend going only during their high season, which is Oct-April (roughly). You'll pay more but it'll be more enjoyable.Guest review byMattUnited States - 10.0

This was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. Our room was great and the view was terrific. The hotel, garden and pool are all top-rate and extremely well cared for. The food is delicious and the owners and staff are warm and accommodating. Terrific location, dog friendly, right on the beach near tiendas and restaurants. A perfect place.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 6.0

The hosts had an unexpected event arise so they had to cancel. They gave me good advance warning and good communication. Booking.com hasn’t refunded my money and communication with them hasn’t been very good. They gave me ‘free cancellation’ but no refund. The property is not at fault for this.Guest review byJanUnited States - 8.0

This was my first time visiting Ixtapa.
This was my first time visiting Ixtapa. It is a beautiful tropical area. I felt very safe. Easy to get around in. Beautiful walkways, and bicycle paths. Driving around is very easy. I will be making this a permanent destination. There's plenty of fun and interesting things to do for the whole family!Guest review byKarenUnited States - 8.0

the way the city sits on the mountain is fantastically beautiful. It's all white buildings, very charming. The town itself is interesting to visit for an afternoon, or a day. The streets are very crowded with cars and there is a lot of exhaust, there are also souvenir and silver shops everywhere, so it felt extremely crowded and touristy. great church and zocalo, worth visiting for a day. I don't think you need more time than that. Also the caves on the outside of town the Grutas de Taxco are fantastic and totally worth a visit.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States
