Aqua Natura Madeira

Hotel in Porto Moniz

The 4-star Aqua Natura Madeira offers elegant rooms with Atlantic Ocean views in the fishing village of Porto Moniz, 28 mi north of Funchal city center. It offers a sauna on site. Absolutely amazing place. We took a room with a balcony facing the seaview and it was 100% worth its' price. It is the best place I've ever been to. People working in the hotel are very helpful and nice. We also received a lot of nice gifts: a bottle of wine, sweets and snacks in our room - all included. The breakfast is quite nice and there are plenty of sweet treats in it. We loved every bit of this place and definitely plan to come back

ARTS IN Hotel Conde Carvalhal

Hotel in Santa Maria, Funchal

This restored Madeiran mansion is located 2953 feet from Funchal's Old Town and has scenic views of the sea, the city and the mountains from its own botanical gardens and terraces. This is a beautiful place, combining the elegant restoration of an old villa with well designed new build (architect not known) set in the villa’s grounds, all developed possibly 10 - 15 years. The setting in the well maintained landscaped gardens and courtyard of the villa, is exceptional. We stayed in the villa on the upper floor which affords great views over the port and the city of Funchal. The fairly easy walk into town was enjoyable, taxi home because of the steep streets back up. Breakfast in the gardens was a delight. The staff are wonderfully kind and hospitable and seem to appreciate working here. I’d say that Madeira has a perfect climate in summer … no more than 24° in the afternoon and maybe 16° at night and the quality of light is as uplifting as you can find anywhere. As my mother (who lived on Tenerife) used to say - ‘always wear a hat’. As seems characteristic of these Atlantic islands, the residential suburbs - such as where Arts In is located - suffer at night from dogs barking. Like the sub-tropical vegetation, it’s the way things are around here.
