I really liked the location. It was really convenient to get to the rest of downtown Berkeley. Unfortunately, it comes with a $49 parking fee since the location is so cental.

The location was perfect for our brief stay. We walked to the CheeseBoard for pizza (2 min. walk) and ate it on our little patio. We had breakfast at EGGY (1 min. walk) which was amazing. We walked to the Greek Theater (25 min). We bought wine at Andronicos. It's exactly what we were looking for.

The shower pressure was terrific for such old plumbing.
The front desk staff were welcoming and efficient.
The parking was a huge advantage. So easy in and out.

What we liked the most was securing the hotel lobby entry doors at night, requiring you to have your room key card to enter. This made us feel safe.
However, on departure day I forgot my new black jacket in the room either hanging in the closet or left on the bed. It was purchased in Seattle, during the first part of our trip Nov 1 - 15, because the weather was sooo cold. Upon reaching home I called the hotel while unpacking and discovered it missing. I spoke to the Manager of the Front Office who informed me he will check with the Housekeepers that serviced our room and would call me back. As of today Dec. 12, 2022 Matt has not called back. No one answers when I called the hotel (510-849-1121) several times since checking out. This is very disappointing. I hope someone looks into this and provides an update to me.

Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much!
Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much! My booking said breakfast included. There was none. Not just this motel/hotel, many are renovating, and quiet enjoyment is not good. But did get some rest around 7 pm. The person above me was a heavy walker/ stomper. Even still, I would choose to come back again, because of the size of the bathroom.

Beautiful city with dirty streets.
Beautiful city with dirty streets. Compared to Boston or Cambridge, the city is clearly not doing enough to address unhoused people, especially those suffering mental illness. Their presence is apparent on sidewalks throughout the city. So too is trash, discarded papers, garbage and generally disorder that could at least be ameliorated with decent temporary housing, daily expanded sidewalk cleaning and leasing of dozens of boarded up businesses (even temporarily to artists, etc).

Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley.
Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley. Went there for our son's graduation and had a few days to walk around. We visited the campus, my husband and son went running and we had a nice dinner at Chez Panisse Bistrot (had to make the reservation THE day they opened up the reservations on-line) to celebrate. Lots of food options near the hotel, getting around Berkeley is easy. It was fun seeing the graduates.

I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views.
I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views. The food options are endless and the casual shopping is so much fun. There is so much to see in the town and on Cal campus. The surrounding areas offer a variety of activities and vistas.
Staff was super nice and helpful. The garden area is charming. But the rooms are so old and tired and frankly many of them were so creepy and uncomfortable. We switched rooms twice and finally gave up when we realized there were no nice rooms at this hotel. It desperately needs renovation and new furniture and beds. It’s such a shame because the location is great and staff are nice. Really wanted to like this hotel, but we were extremely uncomfortable.
Architecturally stunning, if you like 1920's Julia Morgan style. Large beautiful public rooms filled with books, even a working area with tables and free coffee, and a grand piano. Beautiful breakfast room with white table clothes and very nice pastries. An amazing ~75 ft long pool which was nearly empty in the early evening. My room had a beautiful view of the Berkeley hills. Thick towels, nice linen. Very helpful and friendly staff.
View was great! Right across from the Bay and Golden gate bridges. The room
Was very small but beautifully decorated and you can tell the old time charm of this hotel is still present.
The staff was exceptional they were ready to help out should the smallest request come up - usb cords, car order. The pool area on weekdays was great!
Overall we had a great stay here with my friend and felt pampered.
Pleasant and helpful staff. We arrived before the scheduled check-in, and the room was available before: very useful. The location is excellent: very close to UC Berkeley, BART station (Downtown Berkeley) and a grocery store (Trader Joe's). The room was equipped with a coffee maker and a microwave. The price was also less than in the surrounding hotels.
The hotel is located just near everything you could walk to. There are lovely and lively restaurants nearby, you could go for a lovely evening stroll but also sit on your patio. The rooms are spacious and we had the best night sleep in quite a while. It is a lovely place if you are a lively.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great if you are visiting Berkeley. The hotel is next to the Bart station so you can take Bart to San Fransico. There are several good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
Staff was welcoming and friendly, providing a map of the area. The hotel was clean and everything in good working order. The shower was especially nice--tall enough! Windows opened for good ventilation.
Clean, cozy and nicely designed
Great location - really close to Berkeley university and downtown, yet it was nice and quiet at night as we had a back room
Parking is a big plus
Great staff
Clean!!
Great location and the room was clean and exceeded my expectations. Hotel manager Sam was very nice and accommodated my parking request. I would recommend and would book again.
Good location for visiting Berkeley and Cal. Good, clean facilities. Breakfast had all the items we wanted. They keep the hotel secure, which is important in Berkeley.
we loved the atmosphere of Berkeley city club hotel, the charm of the old building. very well located. confortable rooms, even of small. super nice staff at breakfast
Everything about it. It’s not some super fat hotel. The hotel represents Berkeley. The room and whole design is amazing. Best best western I’ve stayed at.
Hotel is super clean and is upscale for the area. Had a nice bar downstairs and some security, which was comforting. Staff up front was decently friendly.
