FAQs about hotels in Stockholm

A Natural Beauty

Modern Stockholm is uniquely made up of 30% waterways and another 30% of parks and green spaces. It’s spread across 14 islands and is both one of the world’s cleanest and most charming capitals.

Stockholm’s famously huge number of museums includes the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, the Moderna Museet and the Spritmuseum. City Hall hosts the famous Nobel Prize banquet and the Vasamuseet hosts the 300 year old Vasa warship.

The city’s past can be felt in Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s stunning Old Town with medieval layout, cobblestone streets and the Baroque-style Royal Palace. Designer Swedish clothes and interior decorations abound in the many unique stores throughout the city.

For a day away, ferries reveal the stunning Stockholm archipelago, a group of thousands of islands and rocks where you can enjoy hiking, outdoor swimming and fishing.

Whether you fly to Arlanda, Bromma, Skavsta or Västerås Airports, the city center can be reached by either train or airport coach. Booking.com offers a wide choice of accommodations for your Stockholm holiday, from modern hotels, to unique motels and affordable hostels.

We arrived by boat through the archipelago so didn’t go on an archipelago trip but would have done so if not. We enjoyed the Royal Palace and changing of the guard (12.15), the Viking Museum, Stradhuset tower gave fab views over the city (take the lift for the first part), ABBA Museum, Cathedral, burial church. Underground was easy to use and not expensive (k26 for seniors and you can hop on and off for 75 mins for same ticket. Buses also good but you can’t buy two tickets on the bus with one card. We should have got a travel pass for two days. If going by underground to the airport get the pink line commuter train to Marsta and then the bus to Arlanda (much cheaper than the pink line direct to the airport.) We had a nice meal at Cafe Tranan - ask for meatballs although not on the menu. Unless you like noise eat downstairs near the bar!

We visited seven museums and art galleries. Transport was easy using a 72 hour pass which covered bus, tram and metro. The weather was sunny and warm. the hotel is outside of the city so there is no choice of eating out in the evening. During the day there are plenty of open air cafes in the city.

Stockholm is fantastic, there is so much to explore!

Stockholm is fantastic, there is so much to explore! The museums, cultural sites and old town are all within a very small area so it is easy to explore, but the city itself stretches much further out. Now that I have been there a few times, I enjoy exploring different neighborhoods where the locals live. I love to swim at the many beaches in the summer, when the sun stays up until 11 pm and rises very early! It is super easy to get around on public transit and there are tons of restaurants and cafes to choose from. I am allergic to gluten and it is easy to find allergy-friendly food.

Beautiful old town, Skansen with all scandinavian animals,...

Beautiful old town, Skansen with all scandinavian animals, old swedish houses, and people wearing clothes from XIX century, telling about life in that times. Fantastic amusement park - Grona Lund (not only for children :)). Vasa Museum is also an unforgetable experience. I would like to come back to Junibacken - Astrid Lidgren museum. Get on The Story Train and dive straight into the magical world between the pages of books. You’ll meet Madicken, Emil, Karlsson and the others on an enchanting journey between the Swedish summer of fairytales and stories and the roaring Karma Falls. Fabulous, exciting and a little sad – exactly as it should be.

We were so excited to see Stockholm not until we arrived at...

We were so excited to see Stockholm not until we arrived at our hotel at Scandic No. 53. I booked this hotel originally early April. After I booked it online, I noticed that the room has no windows. I immediately sent them an email to upgrade my room with a window as I am claustrophobic. They approved my request but for a fee. I said, that’s ok as long I have a window. When we arrived at the hotel from Oslo, they said that they are fully booked and will be staying in the original room I booked which has no windows. I showed them the text messages that I was approved for an upgrade for the room change. But with no luck as they are fully booked, they will try to upgrade me to a window room by Sunday. We arrived Friday and reserved for five nights. I was so upset when I saw the room they offered us. It was like staying in a dungeon. No window. No air. So dark and stuffy. I cancelled our reservation and looked elsewhere. Luckily, Clarion Sign has availability and we were so satisfied with our stay there. It was like 100% better than staying at that dungeon. Good thing I got my refund for the cancelled reservation at Scandic No. 53. This was the only drawback experience we had at Stockholm. Other than this, we had a good time. Clean air. Transportation. Museums. Walking tours. The Royal Palace. Airport. I would love to go back but I need to save $$$ because this place is so expensive.

Gorgeous, very stylish 1920s style / art deco feeling hotel in the serene djurgarden area of stockholm. Really clean, newly furnished spacious rooms, hotel is located right next to a ferry stop that can get you to sodermalm in a few minutes - around 20 mins walk to the city centre too. We loved having free access to the sauna, the bar area + breakfast/restaurant room is also really beautiful. Great fresh selections at breakfast too. Staff were all really friendly and accommodating. Everything was great. The hotel is expensive but it is just amazing... The room looked like in a museum, the food was delicious and the Spa Area (book in advance!) was very relaxing and warm. The staff did a great job too, everyone was very helpful. The place in which the hotel is located is probably one of the best in Stockholm - close to everywhere, the metro station is maybe 100 meters away, beautiful area to just walk around. All well, good breakfast buffet. For everyone not entirely familiar with the Stockholm area: the property is located in Nacka, which is only about 10-15 minutes by car from central stockholm. Currently, there is building work around this area, so best check how to get on to the main road(s) leading up to the (visibly fairly prominent) multi-storied building. Parking is in front of the building and the hotel are very accomodating to help out.
