Kanazawa is a city that beautifully combines its rich history with modern charm.
Our highlights included exploring the traditional samurai district and the charming Higashi Chayamachi district.
As the kanji of Kanazawa, we also tried in local specialties like gold leaf-covered ice cream.

A very quiet city but have a vibe of big city. Many shop closed at 8 pm and the city become quiet after that time. No subway but only JR to go other city. Local attraction can reach either by walking distance or public bus.

Kanazawa is great if you are into arts and crafts and want to buy hand crafted souvenirs. Another reason to visit is to drink sake as the city has really old distilleries. The city has a Jazz scene, I was able to visit one Jazz bar where they played records, it was excellent. It also has several amazing gardens, including one of three most amazing gardens in Japan called Kenroku-en. It apparently manages to achieve all 6 important garden principles in a single garden which is said to be extremely hard. City is walkable and have a large bus network. Another reason is that you can do day trips to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, there are many tours and they are well worth doing. Shirakawa-go is simply amazing. Finally, the Shinkansen line going to Tokyo has beautiful views.

The Castle grounds, museum of modern art, night lit botanical garden and the acquarium are excellent, and my kids also had a good time climbing the various rock formations/ sitting on a boatride to see the sea caves, and soaking in the sakura. (the latter 3 activities require a drive out of Kanazawa itself)
Make sure to visit the Aquarium! Family friendly, well curated, and very reasonably priced.
Be sure to eat at the seafood market - the sea urchin and unagi on offer will speak for itself

Kanazawa is a beautiful city.
Kanazawa is a beautiful city. The castle and park are wonderful especially with the Sakura in bloom. It is easy and cheap to get around and the food choices are excellent. We particularly enjoyed the cocktail bar Furansu - exceptional cocktails
One of our favorite hotels in Japan. The location was great, the staff were friendly, the amenities were nice, and the room was really comfortable. It was super close to everything you might want to see in Kanazawa and walking distance to the train station, I don't think we used public transport here. The restaurants in the area are second to none - although you will need to do some research in advance and make reservations months in advance to get the good ones. The room was super comfortable and it was nice to use the onsen in the hotel.
The location right beside the train station is great and from there you can take the circular lines which get you to all the main tourist attractions. The room was nice and like most places in Japan the staff were friendly and helpful and spoke better English than many of the places we stayed. Overall, during cherry blossom season I would recommend Kanazawa as the park is stunning and one of the top parks in Japan. The food in the hotel was nice also.
The best stays we had in this Japan trip. Barely 5 min walk to Kanazawa train station. Staff was very helpful with our form filling for the local luggage delivery service. The lady even called the hotel where we are sending our luggage to, to confirm the details. Coffee and tea station at reception and additional toiletries can be picked up by guests who needed them. Breakfast was a nice variety. Cleanliness is top notch.
I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. During our three weeks in Japan this was by far the most spacious and beautifully designed hotel we stayed in. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the bar served delicious sake and noodles on an evening. The room - wow. Definitely stay here if you are visiting Kanazawa!
There is a mall connected to the Kanazawa train station and Hyatt House is next to the mall, which is at the opposite end of the train station; location is excellent! hotel is very new and clean; very spacious; bed is comfortable; a/c is adjustable to comfortable temperature; was offered a free buffet for one pax
This hotel was (almost) perfect! It is located right beside the Kanazawa Train Station so it is easily accessible even if you have a lot of luggage. Hotel staffs were very nice and helpful. Convenient store right beside the hotel for late night pangs. Facilities were really clean the bath area was great!
Location was close to Kanazawa train station, just a few minutes away. Facilities are updated and modern. Very clean room. Staff is excellent and helpful. Most of the staff could understand and communicate in English. We liked that a 7-Eleven was attached to the hotel. Also the room roomy.
Staff excellent, the hotel was clean and fancy, the buffet breakfast was delicious, and loved the communal bath. We enjoyed a free drink of matcha and Japanese sweets. Will definitely be back next time we go visit. It felt like we were at a 5 star hotel. Thanks Agora Kanazawa.
Two-day staying in the lovely hotel in Kanazawa. The Japanese-style room was very clean and spacious, we loved the tatami. The hotel owner was super kind and friendly, introducing the city and the hotel, we felt like being at home.
The Japanese breakfast was rich and tasty.
The location was amazing and fact that was coffie bar downstairs was amazing.
Room was quite big for Japan standard in hotels, and the prize also very attractive.
If i will be next time in Kanazawa for sure I will choose that hotel for accommodation.
Everything was perfect with the Hotel Nikko Kanazawa. Great location, fantastic staff, modern luxurious rooms and a delicious buffet breakfast with lots of variety. Great value for money considering we stayed in Luxury rooms.
The location is very good, as it is close to many tourist attractions in Kanazawa. The room was a decent size for a Japanese business hotel. The staff was helpful and the hotel is very modern.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The bar downstairs has a very relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is located very centrally in the heart of Kanazawa. The room was pretty spacious for Japan.
Right beside Kanazawa station.
Very profession staff, bringing together the expectations of an international hotel chain and Japanese hospitality. Classy decor. Well furnished.
This small hotel was perfect for our stay in Kanazawa. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. It is near the key sites in the city and walking distance to Kanazawa Station.
Everything about The Hotel Sanraku Kanazawa was incredible. Elegant, very well situated, friendly, and reasonably priced for such a remarkable lodging.
Location is very close to Kanazawa station. Very clean. Bigger than most Japanese hotels. Have an onsen facility which is very good after the long walk.
