This place is amazing. If you want to go to Wilpattu National Park, this is the perfect accommodation. We booked The Sanctuary half an hour before arriving and we were warmly greeted at the door by the owner Siraj. Siraj's passion for environmental protection is incredible. His knowledge of the ecology of the area is huge. Siraj and his team provided us with first class hospitality, beautiful food and a fully organized safari we will never forget (for a very competitive price). Extras like plentiful home grown bananas, a night tour of the grounds (seeing flying foxes and mouse deer) and free photos of what we saw on safari were the icing on the cake. It was a privilege to have stayed at The Sanctuary and we left enriched. I would not hesitate to return here in future.

A wonderful place with a serene and peaceful ambiance. The cottages are thoughtfully designed to ensure complete privacy and tranquility. The food was delightful, and the hotel staff was exceptionally friendly. Don’t miss the Loris tour – it’s an experience worth trying!

Close to the secondary gate to Wilpattu, very friendly staff and nice surroundings of the rooms! It does take a while to get into the park and we felt we didn’t see many animals in the first stretch, so book a full day safari to not be disappointed. Only comment is that I realized they charge a 10% service charge on the entire bill, including the room fees, which led to us paying close to 25 euros in service charges, which is a lot.

I had a fabulous stay at Hiru Beach Resort! The staff were absolutely amazing – friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with a smile. We got a free upgrade: three rooms with balcony and that was lovely: the great view, the refreshing wind (you don‘t need airco here), donkeys walking by and Singalees families enjoying the weekend. The best was Ramesh and his team! He did not only make sure we got everything we wanted during our stay, but also helped organizing our activities before, during and after our stay without any financial benefit (Wilpattu, kitesurfing and negombo boat tour) - just because he is a great host! We already miss his care and great humor!
