Ideal for shopping for jewelry bargains or finding nice little restaurants, walking through the area and learning about the history of Philipsburg and the other Dutch islands. A great store for souvenirs is the Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store....excellent cheeses, alcohol and assorted Dutch ceramics. Fully air-conditioned for your enjoyment...we went there twice and loved it. If you are, like me, a history buff, visit the Pasanggrahan Guest House, former home to the governor of St. Maarten and where the King and Queen of Holland stayed during their visits to St. Maarten....now a small inn. Our stay at Foxie Villa was beyond our expectations! Our host Rose Marie was wonderful in making sure we had everything we needed. She was very informative with lots of tips & restaurant recommendations. We loved our unit being just few steps from the beach, beautiful pool & beautiful outdoor sitting area. Just a few steps from the boardwalk & within walking distance to many restaurants & shopping. Will definitely stay there again…it was PERFECT!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Loved the Boardwalk. Lots of fun places to go and good restaurants too! I think there was 3 casinos very close, as well, if that is your thing? We felt pretty safe even at night. We did not venture too far. Cruise ships came in about every day, but did not make it too crazy. Marleys Sports bar is a very cool place. Denny can get you any NFL game you want on one of his many tv's. Good food and drinks (great prices too)! Very nice people! We found the entirety of our stay on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten wonderful. Taxis at the resort were readily available and reasonable. Be smart and pull up the cruise schedules and plan your trips outside the resort around lighter days. Definitely take a speedboat to Anguilla.Guest review byDianeUnited States - 8.0
Philipsburg is a fun town with lots of restaurants and shops...
Philipsburg is a fun town with lots of restaurants and shops. Offcourse the boulevard too. It is like Zandvoort aan zee but a lot warmer ;) So yes it can be a bit crowdy when there are more than one CruiseShip there. Place for more cruiseships makes that a lot of tourist get ashore and that can be up to 5000 people pro cruiseship. Offcourse they do not all come to Philipsburg but it can get a little crowdy very tourist place to be. Without the cruiseships Philipsburg still got her own caracter as a small town. On sunday catholic church you can hear people sing and pray. You can join in entrance is at the backstreet of the boulevard. The style of the decor was probably 1980/90. Bed very comfortable. Towels a bit oldie. Reception staff very nice and helpful. Wifi works well. I had a lovely view over the beach. Right below the hotel there's a nice restaurant and many cafes around. You are on the beach board walk and you have all kinds of shops available.
