They need to get the pier back open.
They need to get the pier back open. There is plenty to do for the kids. But when I used to visit when I was younger the shops on lord street were the best. All very elite. Even the few charity shops. It’s now so upsetting to see them all shut up . I know it’s like a lot of places. But this is a seaside place with lots of visitors. We have visited Southport on many occasions and really enjoyed it, but this time we had our pet dog with us and were very disappointed with the lack of dog friendly shops and cafes on Lord Street, The area needs a good tidy up as there was a lot of litter around. Didnt get to the beach as the weather had been really rough for a couple of days into our holiday. There are plenty of buses around if you rely on public transport and the rail station is in the town centre. The resort is looking a bit neglected, lots of empty shops on Lord Street. The main shopping precinct is busy during the day with a good variety of high street shops although most shops and restaurants are closed by 10pm. Great place as a base to travel about the Merseyside area, lots of buses and trains. A trip to Southport model railway village is a must as is a visit to Hesketh park, both are hidden gems and worth spending time in.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Usually have a day trip, so treated us to a stay over Always clean looking, smooth pathways near waterside etc. Booked: Splash World - excellent 2 hours of fun Bowling - enjoyable and children did table-tennis & pool Adventure Theme Park - brilliant day, stayed over 5 hours and they went on the Log Flume 28 times!!
