Great room, comfortable bed. View to ocean and cruise terminal was fantastic. They were kind enough to store our big luggage while we visited Kakadu for a night. Great location as you could walk most places. Breakfast was included and they even packed us a breakfast to go when we left for Kakadu at 6AM.

FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

I liked the fact that we could walk to most places or use the bus service or Uber which was very reasonable price wise. The information centre were great at advising us on transport and local events as well as swimming areas and public pool areas. we agreed The wetland cruises were really informative and interesting and the bus drivers were caring and interesting in their comenteries. t My friend and I had such a good time, we could have happily stayed longer.

Darwin was so enjoyable because driving was relaxed wherever we went. Minding markets are a must Thurs & Sunday. Great food & wonderful sunsets. The history & amazing rebuilding of this city is incredible! A city that endured 2 dreadful tragedies being the Bomming in 1942 & Cyclone Tracey in 1974. Today Darwin is a vibrant city that youd never know had to re-build after such events. Great restaurants & Coffee shops

Favourite places we visited were Berri Springs, Trailer Boat Club and Zen Roof top bar. We enjoyed a great meal at Loong Fung on Cavanagh Street, also enjoyed the beef and chicken satays from Sari Nasa Satays at Parap markets on Saturday and some Barramundi at the Wharf. Darwin city is within an easy walk to the waterfront and we found it easy to get around to East point, Nightcliff, Casuarina and Mindil beach in our hire car.

    Loved the jumping croc tour.

Loved the jumping croc tour. We also had a wonderful harbour dinner sunrise cruise. Food was delicious, staff so helpful and as much champagne as you could drink. The waterfront area is fabulous with wave pool, fun park and great restaurants. Excellent for family or couples. A great holiday. One of our party was in a wheelchair and it was no trouble getting him around. Ubers so helpful.

The weather in Darwin was wonderful.

The weather in Darwin was wonderful. Arriving from our cold winter in NZ we loved the sunny , hot days. Although we did appreciate the motel's air-conditioning. The city centre is interesting and close to the waterfront which is a nice pace to walk. The two day trips we did to the Coroboree Billabong and to the Litchfield National Park were very interesting and well run. We would recommend them. The Botannical Gardens and museum are also great places to visit.

It cost $40 for a taxi ride from the airport to the hotel, so not bad. The hotel is on the edge of all you want to do or see, but just around the corner from indigenous housing, where our taxi driver warned us not to go(Smith Street McLaughlan Street- the hotel is on McLaughlan). We could walk all over Darwin CBD and there was a free bus service for 3months if you wanted to go to the suburbs and National Museum of the Northern Territories( which is great!)
