I did so much research and booked so far in advance, my expectations were super high. This was for our 10 year wedding anniversary. I am still blown away almost 6 weeks later. It’s the type of place you don’t stop thinking about. The pictures don’t do it justice but I don’t think pictures will ever do it justice. If you get a chance to stay here, do it! Choose this place!! It’s worth every penny (and yes, I realize they aren’t giving it away!)

My husband and I recently spent a week at Palazzo Pascal while in town for a wedding, and we were truly blown away. From the moment we booked, the experience was exceptional. The hotel management and concierge were warm, responsive, and eager to assist with every detail—even before we arrived. When we reached the property, we were welcomed like family. The level of hospitality here is simply unmatched. The staff are not only professional and attentive but also genuinely thoughtful, often surprising us with small, personalized gifts and gestures throughout our stay—whether it was a hand-written note, fresh fruit, or a sweet local treat left in our room. These little touches made us feel incredibly special and taken care of. The property itself is absolutely breathtaking. Set in the peaceful town of Scala, it offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast without the crowds of nearby Ravello. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge between wedding events and sightseeing. We appreciated being slightly removed from the tourist bustle—Scala offers serenity, authenticity, and charm. Our room was newly renovated, beautifully designed, and immaculately clean, blending modern comfort with classic Italian elegance. Everything from the linens to the lighting felt intentionally curated. The common areas of the hotel—like the gardens, terraces, and pool—are equally stunning and well-maintained. Every meal we had on-site was fantastic, made with fresh local ingredients and served with such care. You can feel how much pride the team takes in creating an unforgettable experience for their guests. This was honestly one of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had and it really is a hidden gem in the Amalfi Coast! We left feeling grateful, relaxed, and already dreaming about our return. Grazie mille to the entire team at Palazzo Pascal for making our stay so magical—you made us feel right at home, and we can’t wait to come back.

A very beautiful, family-run hotel! We were initially worried about the reviews in Positano mentioning the many stairs guests had to climb, but this hotel, in addition to its stunning views, had a lift, which was a huge help. The hotel also offered a car lift to Positano, which was very convenient as it’s about 15 minutes away from the busy tourist area. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Giovanni, the owner, is a wonderful, typical Italian gentleman — always warm and approachable. He was present at breakfast every morning, personally serving the homemade dishes, which added a true touch of Italian hospitality to our day. Alex, who also worked in the breakfast area, was an absolute gem — both he and Giovanni made our mornings brighter with their smiles. We would definitely come back!

Amalfi Coast Highlights

  • Conca Dei Marini

Home to the Emerald Grotto, sea-lovers can snorkel in the crystalline waters, while foodies can savour Sfogliatella, a sweet shell-shaped pastry from the Convent of Santa Rosa.
  • ‘Painted Village’ of Furore

Small but full of character, this stunning hillside town gets its other moniker from the colourful open-air museum of murals lining its bougainvillea-lined streets.
  • Romantic Ravello

While Annunziata Historic Building hosts recitals, Villa Rufolo also delights with spectacular views and concerts in its gorgeous gardens.
  • Handcrafted goods from the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a home to unique artisan products. Positano is known for its linen beachwear, while Maiori is where you can shop for handmade Gladiator leathersandals.
  • Natural caves of Praiano

Set in natural caves, revellers can head to Africana Famous Club and admire the shimmering waters below. Extravagant live performance and lobster dinners are also on offer.
  • The ceramics trail of Vietri sul Mare

While colourful ceramics can be admired up and down the Amalfi Coast, the traditions of the master ceramist are a closely guarded secret in this picturesque coastal town.
  • The fishing village and anchovy paradise of Cetara

Experts at preserving anchovies, trattorias here are known for their fresh homemade pasta with fermented anchovy essence Colatura di Alici, topped with crunchy pumpkin.
  • Lemony pastries at Piazza Cantilena

Sal de Riso Patisserie is perfect for people watching with some chilled lemon mousse, a zesty lemon sorbet, or a generous slice of pear and ricotta cake.
  • Historic Piazza del Duomo

The grand staircase at 9th-century Amalfi Cathedral is a must-see. Sample chocolate-covered orange candy overlooking the bougainvillea terraces and turquoise waters.
  • Sunbathing along the Amalfi Coast

Crystal clear waters and endless stretches of golden sands run from Duoglio Beach in Amalfi to Cavallo Morto Beach in Maiori, while the hidden Laurito Beach near Positano is wonderfully secluded.

Amalfi is a small and charming town with beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere. However, since it’s the central town of the entire Amalfi Coast, it tends to get very crowded — which unfortunately takes away some of its charm. That said, it’s still worth a visit, especially to admire its history and beauty. But I highly recommend exploring the nearby towns as well — like Positano, Atrani, Maiori, Minori, and others — each of them has its own unique character and is often much more peaceful and authentic.

The property itself is stunning. It is nestled in a lovely country side area, with beautiful mountain views, and easy access to bus routes that get you across the Amalfi coast, but enable a quiet nights rest away from the super touristy spots. Breakfast is more than a typical Italian breakfast in quantity, and the hostesses are exceptionally attentive and helpful. There are amenities like laundry, groceries and local restaurants all within walking distance. We would definitely return.

We think Vietri is the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is easy to reach (most other towns are a pain to drive to), and is a great place to explore from, with Pompeii only 25 mins drive and Herculaneum around 35 minutes, all motorway. The town itself is very authentic and prices are reasonable compared to the better known places. The boat service to other Amalfi towns is regular and easy to use without being too expensive (€25 return to Amalfi for 2 people) - we enjoyed the boat trips as much as the towns which were generally heaving with tourists, I’d hate to think what high season is like

Furore is around 15km from amalfi, sounds close but in reality due to the winding roads it takes around 25 minutes in a car/bus Furore is quite spread out so you need to take that in to account when staying there. Car/moped is the best method of transport followed by the bus, walking is an option but be prepared for many steep hills. This is a perfect base to get into amalfi, but be aware that parking in amalfi itself is challenging and the police/car towing companies are red hot!
