We loved this off-the-beaten-path pub and small B&B (just three rooms; book early if this appeals), In the heart of an a rural village known for iron and slate mining, this village is adorable and nestled in the outskirts of Cardiff. We found the staff friendly, particularly Adam and the owners took much pride in their establishment. The rooms were well-equipped, quiet, comfortable. Like old world pub style, we chatted with other patrons as though old friends. Would have stayed more nights if our travels allowed. Pub food and breakfast were delicious and artfully presented.

This is a hard review to do. If you like friendly and accommodating staff in an historic, beautiful building you might like staying there. The bed was also very comfortable and the carpet new.

We arrived on the day thet Sting was performing at the Castle, so we expected the traffic and the city centre to be busy. The Beverley is well located, walking distance to the centre, and we got to it without a fuss. We were able to park in the secure parking to the rear. The room was perfect for a shoty stay. It was a warm day. so a fan had been placed in the room; this wasn't required, though. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had been recently updated and was very nice; great shower with plenty of hot running water. The next morning we had the breakfast. Being Gluten Free this is always a challenge. The Beverly were able to provide me with a Full Irish breakfast, without the sausages; which was the thing that made it a full irish. We were offered the Vegan sausage as a replacement, but opted for extra eggs instaid. I had a good fill and was very happy with the meal. The cleanliness of the room, the good breakfast, friendly staff and the great location made it the perfect stay. We shall return.

FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.

Parking is not the best in Cardiff so my grown up daughter...

Parking is not the best in Cardiff so my grown up daughter and I walked into the city which is very pedestrianised. Lots of interesting old arcades with interesting shops, a large modern shopping mall and Cardiff Castle. On our second day we drove along the coast to Penarth and Barry Island, which has a beautiful sandy beach and then inland to a National Trust property and gardens Dyffryn Gardens - not the best time for colour in August.

Cardiff is a beautiful city with lots of attractions to see. We went to the Cardiff Castle, the famous Cardiff market, Barry beach and some lovely parks around. We also went on a boat trip which was amazing. We loved listening to the recorded history of the River Taff and Ely. The kids enjoyed lots of activities at the fair ground.

    Downtown area a bit grubby.

Downtown area a bit grubby. EVERYTHING needs a good steam cleaning and some minor repair after the drunken bacchanalias that take place on a regular basis after concerts and sporting events. Catch it now before it goes into worse decline.

We'd never been to Cardiff before.

We'd never been to Cardiff before. The drive into Cardiff Bay area was very disappointing! Disused buildings, factories and building sites😞 We paid alot of money for just one night in The Future Inn hotel, the surroundings were depressing 🥹 The city was alive and buzzing though!! Hundreds of people , so many bars, and eateries, and music bars,a very busy place, lots to choose from! Would go to the city again but would stay elsewhere!! We ate in The bar 44 (Spanish tapas , Def use again💗), Tiny Rebel, and drank and danced in Brew house. We used Über taxis. Alot cheaper than the other rip off taxis!!

A flying visit to Cardiff with my son. Just half a day.

A flying visit to Cardiff with my son. Just half a day. Drove to the Bay and parked on meters by the Norwegian Church. 3 hours max, £4.50. Took an Aqua Bus to the City. Walked around the outside of the castle and into the arcades which were lovely and bought Welsh Cakes at the bakers in the indoor Market, all opposite the castle. Cardiff looked like a great place for food, drinks and shopping. Back to the Bay for a ride on the Ferris Wheel for great views then lunch (had to move the car as would have exceeded 3 hours but there are more on street meters nearby). Total trip was about 5 hours.

The property is in a really convenient location. It’s 20 minutes walk into Cardiff City Centre and 20 minutes walk to Cardiff Bay and The Millennium Centre etc. The property was clean, and had everything we needed. The shower was good, and we had no trouble with noise as it is in a quiet location. Communication was very efficient with the owner.

The hotel is close to a mall with some restaurants and to the bay area with plenty of hip restaurants, live music and hustle and bustle. The city centre is far away on foot but the bay area is trendy and fun. City centre is worth a trip though, Cardiff is a really fun city.
