FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery & Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green spaces of any European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College houses the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

As one of the youngest European cities, Dublin has vibrant nightlife with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish vacation, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, an independent apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

Dublin is a very welcoming city - and so are the inhabitants! We visited the EPIC - a museum which makes you better understand some parts of the Irish history - and, of course, the Guinness Storehouse (a kind of wonder world for beer-lovers). What was best was our day out in Howth on the cliff walk and a simple, but lovely habour. Getting around by bus is very simple, cheap and scenic: you discover areas on the double decker you couldn’t explore in such a short time. As it was our first visit to Dublin, we just wanted to “smell” the atmosphere and so we stayed outside the principal monuments.

An overcrowded city which is unpleasant to walk around in mainly due to the uninspiring landmarks, smell of urine and homeless people living in tents on the streets and begging outside shops. It's not worth a visit. If you are going to Dublin these activities were pleasurable; the visit to the Guinness Storehouse and the half-day trip to Glendalough and Wicklow with Paddy Wagon Tours.

    Dublin is a beautiful city.

Dublin is a beautiful city. There is so much to do and we definitely didn’t spend enough time here. We used transport links such as the airport - city bus & trams. We also did a lot of walking. The best factor has to be the 24hr spa shop for that midnight snack! We spent two nights here but i think 5-6 would be a better amount. Just remember to bring a heavy wallet, OR find the little pubs/restaurants on the outskirts of town. Much better value for money!

Love the historic side but not as much the commercial side, but that's a city for you. EPIC museum was well done and so worth the time - the connections and information provided was priceless. Lots of varieties for eating preferences at reasonable prices. In Stitches Comedy was a blast!! We walked everywhere and never felt unsafe. Ruby Molly was a fabulous place to stay!

The city is a tourist trap overwhelmingly catering to wealthy, rude (and at times ignorant) American tourists. Temple Bar is to be avoided at all costs, and restaurants offer poor value for money with low quality produce and substandard meals at excessive prices. I would not return to the city. Four nights was far too long. Cork seemed to be a nice city, possibly away from the tourist trap of Dublin, so if I were to return to the Republic of Ireland it would be elsewhere within the country. Native Dubliners are focused solely on money - they have that in common with the Americans to whom they are utterly sycophantic.

This is easily the best hotel I've stayed at in Ireland (and I've been to a few). The room has all the facilities you may need and more, and is impeccably kept. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is abundant. Location is right in the heart of Dublin and makes a great base to travel around (although the city centre does get rather dodgy at times). The price was pretty reasonable for Ireland (although it's usually much higher). Staff are usually helpful. Restaurant was also good.

It was expensive considering it’s €17 Cab fare each way to the city. (Approximately 12-15 mins in car to city centre) very clean and comfortable though. Also cleaners were there dead on 11am and practically escorted us out the door, being in Ireland you would expect them to be a little friendlier, they barely said hi to us but walked out to lock the door after us, I found that strange for such a renowned friendly City such as Dublin.

The location is perfect for the city centre and Temple Bar. Staff were lovely, facilities were good, rooms are slightly dated but the upshot was that they are not tiny and cramped. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, option of having a bath and plenty towels. I’ll not be using my previous favourite hotel when in Dublin, this ticks the boxes especially the value for money box
