A cutesy place with lots of history. 1.5 days was enough. Is ok as a base city - not overly great with teenaged kids. Everything in Tasmania seems to attract a fee, which is understandable to keep the parks etc. maintained. Traffic is easy to navigate. A very pretty city.
A very pretty city. We visited the Dada Muse which was really nice. A warm spot to go and see some cool art. The best spot in Launnie if you have kids is Riverbend Park. It was cold, wet and foggy but we still managed a nice wander. Coffee at the Boathouse was nice and cosy as well. It's a pearler of a park on a nice day. Remember to take a ball! Basketball courts are great there. We visited for the footy. Walked back to the Grand Chancellor from Utas oval without issue. Traffic on the way was pretty busy though so leave extra time. And have dinner before the footy. The food options there consist mainly of hot fried food, donuts, more fried food, really super long lines, and some of the yummiest Thai, weirdly enough, I've ever eaten! But I would recommend planning for an early dinner somewhere before hand. The long lines can interrupt watching the game. If driving back to Hobart via Campbelltown, stop at the lolly shop just before the petrol station on the left. Amazing.Guest review byKristyAustralia - 10.0

I was in Launceston for the Australian Musical Theatre Festival. Lots of varied events, many free or reasonably priced. You can walk to everything within 10-15 minute radius. Try and time your visit to be there on Saturday morning for the Harvest Market.Guest review byLou BensonAustralia
