The pool!!! Also they offered complimentary beach towels chairs and coolers which really saved me $$$ since we flew down. The staff was always friendly and willing to help with anything.

    I loved Marathon. So much to do on the island.

    I loved Marathon. So much to do on the island. The snorkeling trip to Sombrero Reef was the highlight of the trip and the sandbar trip was a lot of fun as well. Loved the restaurants as well as we were able to bring our catch from our fishing charter to Lazy Days for a fantastic family dinner. Marathon is perfectly located for a day trip to Key West or a trip to Islamorada to go to the Theatre of the Sea. If you love spending your days out on the water fishing or snorkeling or just being out on a boat Marathon is the place. I will definitely be going back.

    Nice town, lots to do besides catch fish although we are happy to eat them. Great places like Crane Hammock, Curry Hammock, Seven Mile Bridge, restauranrs, Sweet Savannahs ice cream…. Just a great place to gang out for awhile. We’ve loved it since the seventies… The waterside park at city Hall is delightful, so is kayaking almost anyplace. For a change, take the bus to Key West…you can see everything, its cheap, and you dont have to struggle with parking there.

    There are many aquatic activities, shows, and museums you can enjoy. If you are a water person this is your location for all water activities including diving, snorkeling and fishing. History Of Diving Museum on Islamorada Key was an amazing compilation of information on the origins and history of diving under the ocean. Eating breakfast outside at Midway Cafe is a delight.

    In the middle of the archipelago, so you're halfway from Miami or Key West. Plenty of places to go. Parks, Tiki Bars, a lot of new infrastructure and franchises. Somehow is loosing its original touch but that's not a bad thing in today's times

    The only real criticism I have about Marathon is the high...

    The only real criticism I have about Marathon is the high cost of parking at Sombrero Beach. At $12 for just 3 hours, it feels quite steep—especially considering there are no real alternative beaches nearby. It would be great if there were some kind of discount or pass for people who visit regularly or stay for longer periods. If you plan to cook your own meals during your stay, I highly recommend bringing a good portion of your groceries from the "mainland" before heading down to the Keys. Walmart in Homestead is a great option for stocking up. Believe me, the prices in Marathon are significantly higher, and you’ll definitely notice the difference.

    I really enjoyed the Sandbar Excursion with the Mermaid...

    I really enjoyed the Sandbar Excursion with the Mermaid group. The Island Fish House is delish and make sure you go to the Sunset Grill at the end (or beginning.... depending on which way you are coming from) of the 7 Mile Bridge. Bahia Honda State Park is a MUST visit!

    We wanted to visit different islands in the Florida Keys, so decided to stay in marathon because it was very central (1.5h from Key West, 1.5h from Islamorada, and 2h from Key Largo). The hotel is very nice. the room is like a tiny studio apartment where you have a small kitchen a table and a fridge. some rooms have also a small patio. the room was clean, the furniture new. there was also a nice pool. we stayed there only for 2 nights but there were people staying there for weeks.
