This is an absolute gem. Clean, very cheap, friendly and well maintained. We had a large room with a wrap around balcony with pool, garden and sea views. The owners went above and beyond. Wifi was excellent.

    Polhena beach is an excellent place to have a safe swim for a traveller and can see turtles in the sea if you are lucky enough. And can visit Matara light house and Kudawalla water air hole by travelling a bit from Matara which has another nice beach.

    Polhena is a nice village, Matara is a nice city with friendly people. There is lots to do in this area. For example guided snorkling at Polhena Beach where you can really swim with the turtles, a boattrip on the Nilwala Ganga where you can see crocodiles. Or visit the Starfort. A great restaurant in Matara city is Dutchmanstreet restaurant. In Polhena i recommend eating at Sunil Rest, Blue Corals or Reef Edge restaurant. Walking around at night in Polhena... take a stick and flash light with you, the street dogs just had puppys (cute) but their mother instinct gave me the creeps.

    Matara is great transport hub, has fast bus connection with Colombo (via expressway). Also most buses on south pass through Matara. Though it's not a good place to stay longer - crowds, no good beaches, high prices.

    People are so peaceful and feeling safer. Wow!!! I wish they had more pick me like taxi services but all fare and good. Beach need a little extra love from environmental authorities. But it was nice still. Thank you Matara. I love to live in Matara for real. Its so chill out places out there in all of the island . ❤🧡😊

    We stayed at Turtle Eco Beach Hotel.

    We stayed at Turtle Eco Beach Hotel. Olympic or near Olympic length pool, but only two lanes wide. Quite unique. The owners are French as are many of the guests. But so many languages can be heard there. Very family friendly! We traveled back and forth to Polhena Beach (about 1.5 km to the south) for snorkeling daily. (Between 08:00 AM and noon, the water is the clearest.) Sadly, during our stay, the daily low tides coincided with - roughly - that same span of time, so we had to be extra careful to avoid getting scratched up by the coral reef. Our stay was for three days from 15-18 January. We saw sea turtles every day and could even feed them "sea grass" by hand. We ate near the hotel or near Polhena Beach and avoided going into town...

    Very spacious, our favorite spot was the terrace where we always had breakfast, Sri lankan breakfast was the best! The host and his mother were amazing, helped us out with everything! So kind with children. Very close walking distance to the surfers spot and also turtle watching. Also the supermarket was very close and the main road so very easy for us to visit nearby beaches like Mirissa and Coconut Hill. Also they helped us out for the transfer to our next destination! So altogether great!! Thank you for everything :)

    It's very excellent modern attractive double story villa . Excellent 3 specious bedroom with bathrooms are very clean and very modern looking. Air-conditioning is make us more comfortable in there. Remote entry provide a good security for us .nice environment close to town, beaches shops and transport is biggest benefit we had. All my family enjoyed and relax as we want like our own house during my stay . It's gave us privet hotel facilities experience. We looking forward to go back in future again.

    A gem on a beautiful surfer beach. Good WiFi, zoom-enabled, great rooms and fantastic modern architecture. A hotel with the standard in the price range is something very special compare to the quality price is very cheap. Clean and very nice service. Staff was super great. it has a very family atmosphere.     this place was the best where we stayed in Sri Lanka, property is simple, but has everything you need (umbrella, snorkelling masks, beach carpet etc.) 20m to the beach, 2km to city centre, but it was not problem as there was bicycle free of charge. The biggest contribute was made by host Chaami, who is friendly, helping and provides us the best service in this country! Highly recommend this guest house.

    One of the best place in Sri Lanka! Suits are very clean and cozy well arranged with furnitures and plants. Nice sea view from the apartment. Rooftop was great! They have very good surf lessons.     Amazing private hotel, cozy, nice pool, great location facing the beach. The villas are well located so that there is privacy for all guests. The beach is great for surfing and swimming, clean sand, not many people. Myriam and Jean made sure that our stay was enjoyable and Axel helped us ride our first waves. Lobster dinner was the best

    Buildings and interiors are very beautifully designed. The manager is very nice. The breakfast is fantastic and the cleaning of the rooms is spotless. After a minute's walk, you are at Polhena beach, where you can see many turtles when you snorkel in the clear calm water. Hotellets pool är ren och svalkande.
